2021/22 was a very busy year for us, in all the best ways. We hit an exciting milestone with our 10-year anniversary and to celebrate the occasion we hosted an event in which we reflected on our journey and learnings, engaged with Ofstead and the Education Endowment Foundation who both spoke on the evening and launched our Tuition Excellence report. This report collected the vast wealth of knowledge and experience of our exceptional tutors, along with our own insights from ten years of delivering tuition.
We followed this up with a free online webinar series for schools, tutors and other charities/tuition providers. The series some of the key themes in more depth.
We meet with the (then) Education Secretary of State, Nadhim Zahawi, and (then) Minister for Schools Robin Walker to discuss how to improve the National Tuition Programme.
We worked with more pupils and tutors than ever before, reaching new regions and partnering with 27 schools – all whilst improving the quality of our programmes and the impact achieved. We grew our central staff, invested in staff development and improved our internal efficiencies to ensure we are well established for continued growth.

Last year was another year of exciting growth for the Maths Masterclass Tutorials (a MESME Maths Circle).
As always, our tutor community were instrumental in supporting us throughout this year, ensuring the high quality of our sessions, which we’re pleased to report meant our attendance consistently remained above 90%.
We also expanded our extra-curricular offering, hosting online events such as webinars on Einstein and his physics, as well as Fermat’s last theorem. Our end of year survey highlighted how much our pupils valued the sessions. 494 pupils continued with us through to this academic year.

2021-22 was an incredibly successful for our Schools Programme. We doubled the number of pupils we have worked with in the past year and widened our impact in some of our target regions – including significant growth in Birmingham.
We received very positive feedback from our partner schools and pupils throughout delivery, and we are proud of our pupils’ progress at the end of their programmes.

In 2021-22 we worked with an incredible 2,102 pupils across the UK!
1,493 were enrolled on our Schools Programme – through which Pupil Premium pupils progress by an additional 6.5 months in both English and Mathematics.
609 pupils participated in our Maths Masterclass Tutorials (a MESME Maths Circle) helping them become better mathematicians.

Fascinating read from Ofsted. The report confirmed what we've been saying for years - qualified teachers make the most impactful tutors.
"We found that the quality of tutoring was better when qualified teachers were involved."
There are many many learnings and insights from the report that we'll be taking on board - including scheduling sessions and helping schools select pupils
Better assessment needed to get the most out of tutoring
Ofsted has today published the first of 2 independent reviews of the government’s flagship tutoring programme in schools and further education providers.
