From our London Guru What a blast with my Hero’s & Monsters 2 students, exploring digital environments and bringing them to life. It’s one of the hardest things to teach and master, as the line between working too hard and not connecting enough is really slim. Ignore the environment and detail and nuance (and sometimes even the viewers immersion) are lost. Commit to strongly and you end up miming or demonstrating which leads to very strange untruthful interactions.
Our students handled the day with courage, curiosity and creativity, and they were treated to a surprise drop in from the ever awesome Pascal, who was over teaching his Casting for Mocap workshop to our UK students, gave wonderful insights, and generously contributed to the fun and playful spirit in the room. Thanks for dropping by Pascal, always a treat to see you.
Congratulations Heroes and Monsters 2

Just Announced: A Brand New Elective Class! - Rapid Scene Workout
Sunday June 14, 2026
With & and special guest Canadian Mocap Vaults Guru
Working in Performance Capture can be daunting and nerve-wracking, particularly when you are presented with a script that you have had no time to prepare for. You are then expected to bring a believable performance to life immediately and create something authentic in the moment.
In the realm of video games, we do not always have the luxury of rehearsal days and are required to work swiftly and efficiently. While there are various techniques to aid in memorizing lines, can you do so quickly, efficiently, and spontaneously, while simultaneously creating a believable performance?
This class is designed to help overcome some of the challenges we encounter in the volume and how to deliver credible performances in the cinematic environment.
Quick script and character breakdowns, maintaining honesty and accuracy in your dialogue, and being adaptable to improvisation and making alternative choices are essential in rapid scene work. These are skills that require practice and preparation. This class focuses on honing these skills and being ready to work swiftly.
Developed by Pascal Langdale, Richard Dorton, and Darren Bailey, this elective class will further prepare you for our core curriculum classes, Pure Imagination and Cinematics.
This class serves as a valuable refresher for alumni who have experienced this on set and seek additional training. It is also beneficial for current students in the program. Eligibility for this class requires completion of Heroes and Monsters 2.
Learn techniques and strategies to enhance your confidence, focus, and adaptability, enabling you to handle any script that is presented to you.

What a fun time we had in the Intro to Performance & Motion Capture Class in Los Angeles with a great mix of actors, VO actors, stunt performers & game enthusiast!
From terminology to technique, improv to scripted scenes, technical challenges in mocap to the creative freedom this collaborative art allows us, this group of performers were ready to explore & trust in our process. As always, we went full out, full on, first time!
It was fun to observe the creativity these actors brought to the exercises & watch them apply the concepts & ideas we teach to creating characters, maintain environments & how to deal with technology without letting it interfere in their performance.
Thank you to alumni and Vaults instructor for your valuable input and assistance in supporting these new family members.
Today you became a new energy & inspiration in the Vaults family & a member of the mocap community.
Congratulations on taking the first steps. We can’t wait to see you in Heroes and Monsters 1!

Just Announced: Pure Imagination- London - June 20 2026
Available to those who have completed Heroes & Monsters 2
This class allows us to connect the work we have already done on character and environment and start to create dramatic scenes that will enable you to put your skills into practice. You will also begin to tackle one of the most common and difficult practices within the mocap world: acting to pre-recorded voiceover.
The Mocap Vaults Co-founder, John Dower and Movement Master Gareth Taylor, will lead you as we explore the most common types of motion capture work, learn how to extract critical information from directors and animators, and develop the skills that will allow you to be more self reliant in the volume, especially when working with new or inexperienced directors.
This is a practical class where we will be engaging in exercises and scene work.
This class serves as an excellent preparation for our Cinematics class. The majority of the material in this class will also be applicable to stage and screen work.
Time:

What a great day for a workout class with in Sunny Los Angeles!
We had a full class of eager performers ready to learn and take whatever was slashed at them!
We started off with a special Vaults guest, an accomplished sword instructor, performer and even a Vaults student .just.kendall
Sword work is skill that takes years to master and a lot of practice! And He’s one of the best!
We stuck to basics to give our students some skills that they can go home and work on.
Kendall brought some great insight and skills and made the lesson really fun and educational. His blend of humor and no nonsense approach will keep us wanting to train more with him!
The sword is an extension of you and you need to stay clean, stay in control and tell a great story with your body.
Using those principals for our hero work, we flipped everything on its head and went to melee weapons that allowed us to get down and dirty for our monsters, creatures and villains!Swinging a wrench, a bat , an ax, a club, a knife brings such different energy. Our monsters got to get a little psychotic, aggressive, and down right scary!
In the middle of our dance card exercise, working on directional turns and locomotion, we had another special guest stop by! Mari Ueda from Pivot is currently working on a variety of Pcap projects and she was checking out our talented students!
Another guest Alumni stopped in to say hi and check things out, As well as being a great performer, he is also a VO and Mocap Director now, and he’s got a few mocap projects in the works.
We patched in another Mocap Vaults student for booking her first professional mocap job! The support from our family is so important and to be able to patch her in, in front of her peers is so special.
Congratulations .noel.vega Thanks to my two coconspiritors & for adding to our exercises and working on hit reactions and falls! The bread and butter of in-game acting! Thank you to everyone who came out to play and congratulations on really great work! You Are The Mocap Vaults!

What an inspirational Heroes and Monsters 2 in Los Angeles today for with and
Our students were focused, energetic and super creative today. Variety and individuality was on point as everyone stepped up and brought their A-game!
The exercises in this class pushes a performer to try new things and make it your own while adhering to structured improv and direction.
What can you bring to the table that makes you stand out while juggling multiple request and direction in your scenes? Flexibility, improv and imagination is mandatory for this kind of creative work.
There is no right or wrong in the creations of these characters but your choices must be strong, clear and you must fully be in control of your body and we learned how important the environment is to let them thrive. How our choices in idles, silhouettes and presentation are so vital to bringing them to life.
How props are an extension of your body and how important they become when using arm extensions and weapons.
How breath work was vital to all of the characters today and how to use it, change it and control it.
Our heroes were heroic and our monsters ferocious. Assassins, and Elements and Werewolves, oh my!
We were so proud of you today. Magic happened, lightbulbs went off and you challenged and inspired each other.
Congratulations on such great work today. Welcome to Heroes and Monsters 2. You are The Mocap Vaults!

What a great day for a Heroes and Monsters 1 class in Los Angeles!
The second class in our series that really starts to lay the foundation for creating characters with the Mocap Vaults.
There’s a fine line between being heroic or monstrous and figuring out how to bring those qualities to your characters comes in many forms and ideas.
Whether we’re dealing with the elements or infusing our characters with animal characteristics and traits, it’s always a fun, creative and interesting challenge.
Today our students had the opportunity to be heroic or bring their inner monsters out. Riding that fine line between good and evil and making specific and strong choices that could change the ideas of what makes us heroes or monsters.
Thank you for trusting in the process and being open to exploring new ways of moving, and pushing yourselves to be better performers. Always going full on, full out, first time! You got a taste of arm extensions, and you now know, how much physicality is involved to add them to your toolbox.
As always thank you to our Vaults tutors and alumni and for always keeping us safe and bringing smart, consistent and educational information to our work.
There were some great breakout moments, discoveries and inspirational work from our students that lets me know, the next generation of mocap performers are going to be ready for any challenges that get thrown at them.
Be very proud of your work today. You are The Mocap Vaults!
