For years, I sat in rooms with something to say… and said nothing.
Not because I lacked ideas. But because a voice in my head kept telling me that nobody was really that interested in what I had to say.
I was a shy introvert who had quietly convinced himself that speaking up just wasn't for people like him.
Then I walked into my first Toastmasters meeting.... and everything started to shift. Ten years later, having gone on a journey of overcoming self doubt to building confidence and self belief, I have given hundreds of speeches, each one building my voice. I have challenged myself to become Club President, Area Director, Division Director, and recenbtly a Club Coach, as well as now mentoring other Toastmasters members starting out on their journey and overcoming their own doubts and lack of confidence.
I can tell you with absolute certainty: confidence is not something you're born with. It's something you build. One conversation at a time.
That journey is the heart of my latest blog post. Because speaking anxiety isn't just about dreading big presentations. It's the idea you keep to yourself in a meeting. The question you don't ask. The thing you finally say out loud, ten minutes later, to one person, in a quiet corner.
And over time, that silence has a cost.
In the blog I cover:
👉 The real fears driving speaking anxiety
👉 Why your nervous system isn't the enemy
👉 Five strategies that create genuine, lasting change
👉 Why you don't need to be polished — you need to be real
If any of this sounds familiar, this one's for you.
