Thermo Lignum

Some creepy crawling creatures found in an art work last week, unusual to have such a combination!
The beetle is a “Blauer Scheibenbock” Callidium violaceum, I love the shiny blue colour of the wings.
The rest preferred to hide in the wood, you can see them peeking out in the other photo.
They did some amazing damage, see the channels just under the bark of the branches and their large oval shaped exit holes.

Our 2016 company trip to Salzburg; taking in the the Christmas market and other sites. It was cold and beautiful!

This is not a chamber full of office supplies as you might imagine, given the title of this album. It is our chamber on our premises where we have treated everything imaginable from 16th Century antiques to artworks by famous contemporary artists. It is approximately 28 cubic square meters in volume with modular shelving to arrange items to maximise airflow and treatment efficiency.

Look who came in for a treatment! We get a lot of taxidermy for treatment. Sometimes even teddy bears. Bugs will eat pretty much anything!

Meet the the Hylotrupes Bajulus. Better known as the Old House Borer or aplty named Long horn beetle. It is rare to see an object infested with these in the UK. They love pine, spruce and other confierous woods. Their worm can literally destroy the structural timbers of a house.

An old Empire chair that we recently treated. Perhaps originating in Napoleon's study!

Hello! Apologies for the long radio silence... Have a look at this ancient lute that we're treating. Rumour has it, it is was played by Shakespeare. I thought he was more of an electric guitar man.

The fabric used by Richard Tuttle for his artwork at the Tate Modern Turbine Hall was treated for insect infestation in our chamber. The exhibition is on until 6th April 2015.
