Some exciting news for South African teachers! 🤩

Our goal of offering opportunities to all got a little closer today … and we’re very happy to announce two new pathways to China for South African teachers🇨🇳

The first is for those of you with experience working with young students. The available roles are in private kindergartens, so candidates must have a background in that area. The schools follow regular hours from Monday to Friday.

The second pathway is for teachers who have taught students of any age! The positions on offer are in training centers where you would be teaching in the evening and on weekends.

Salaries range from 13-16k RMB per month (between around 31-38k South African Rand) and jobs are available in cities such as Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xi'an, and Wuhan.

If you’re a South African teacher who’s ready to start a new adventure in China … we’d be thrilled to help!

Study in China

Scholarships, Language Programs, & Summer Opportunities

Here at Impact, we’re all about helping you do exciting, meaningful, and even life-changing things abroad!

And we believe our latest announcement falls perfectly into that category.

Through our long-standing partnerships and over 20 years of experience working in China, including direct collaboration with government-backed organisations, we’re very excited to offer access to funded programs and scholarship-supported university placements in this amazing country.

Here’s a quick overview of what’s available …

*University Degrees (with scholarships)*

Study a full undergraduate degree at partner universities in cities like Beijing, Chongqing, and Jinan, starting in August 2027. Scholarships can cover tuition, accommodation, or both, making this a far more affordable option than studying in the UK or elsewhere. Subjects include business, engineering, computer science, and more, with options in English or Chinese, including a 6-year medical degree.

*One-Year Chinese Language Programs*

Spend a year studying Chinese at a university in China, building your language skills in a fully immersive environment, starting in August 2026. This is an incredible opportunity for rapid progress, as well as experiencing daily life in China and opening up future academic or career pathways. Applications close in June 2026.

*Summer Programs*

Short-term summer experiences combining Chinese language learning with cultural activities and travel. Ideal if you want a first experience of China before committing to something longer.

All of these programs are supported from start to finish, including guidance with your application, placement, and preparation before you go.

If you’re interested, take a look through the program pages to explore each option in more detail and see what might suit you best: https://www.impact-teaching.com/study-and-courses-in-china/

And feel free to send me a message with any questions, we’re super excited about this and I’d be very happy to help!

It's the end of my week in China and I had a great time🤩

It was nice to hear from our teachers about their recent travels and experiences, and it's put Beijing, Shenyang and Tianjin on my list of travel destinations for my next trip to China this summer 😎

Our flight is leaving from a new part of Pudong airport today and the scope and quality of China's infrastructure is so impressive 👌

Shanghai has so much to offer, and before we went to Jing'an temple we went on a long walk all over the city.

We started at Nanjing Road, which is Shanghai's main walking street. If you love skyscrapers and crowds like I do, this is the place for you 🤩

Later we the stopped at a traditional tea house and also went to Wujiang Road, a food market.

Over the course of the day I noticed that there are significantlg more foreigners in Shanghai compared to recent visits. With more and more countries getting visa free travel to China, that trend is likely to accelerate further 😎

Wonderful day spent at the Buddhist Jing'an temple in Shanghai.

A few days into the New Year here in China, it's a time of year people visit for blessings for the upcoming year 🇨🇳

It's almost New Year here in China, and the New Year's gala on TV is an epic production as always 🇨🇳

It started with various skits and productions focused on China embracing technology, which included dancing robots 🦾🦿

Technology is everywhere in China, and today's hotpot was no different. Scanning a QR code to view the menu and ordering, robots assisting the waiting staff and phone chargers on standby.

A key tool in navigating China is your phone's translation app and I used it today to double check if I should be drinking tea, and to see what the New Year's message was 😅

Last week .pyke included The Bund as one of her must see places in China, and it's easy to see why 🤩

After the walk on the Bund, I took a stroll on the very busy and exciting Nanjing D**g Lu, Shanghai's main walking street 🚶
