Sappho of Le**os (c. 630 BCE), the ancient Greek lyric poet of sensual longing — hailed by Plato as the “Tenth Muse” — remains a figure of enduring fascination, myth, and ambiguity. With much of her life lost to time and only poetic fragments surviving, her legacy has been shaped as much by projection and speculation as by fact. This talk offers an exploratory look at Sappho’s mythic imprint through an astrological lens. Drawing on well-known chart examples where the asteroid Sappho is prominently placed, we’ll explore themes of erotic expression, artistic voice, and sexual power — especially where sexuality becomes a site of performance, scandal, or resistance. Expect heavenly prose, seduction, and a sojourn into the shadow side of commodified desire.

In medical and horary astrology, consultation charts assume a central place, but many astrologers relegate them to second billing, an afterthought. But the consultation chart can be one of the most incisive tools in an astrologer’s kit, useful not only for contextualising the client’s situation, but for optimising the client-practitioner relationship, identifying potentials and pitfalls, analysing the client’s overt and hidden motivations for seeing an astrologer, and pinpointing the most fruitful avenues of enquiry and courses of action to take. In this talk Marcos demonstrates the power of consultation charts using examples from his herbal and astrological practice.

19:30 The Diverse Astrological Approaches of W. J. Tucker – Philip Graves

A presentation of the astrological career and ideas of maverick British astrologer W. J. Tucker PhD, who studied and wrote on modern psychology, espoused unconventional scientific views on astrology at the same time as making an extensive study of Ptolemaic astrology, was a strong advocate of the use of the fixed stars, and liaised extensively with astrologers in continental Europe and the USA while remaining largely detached from the mainstream theosophically grounded British astrological scene of his time. The talk will include a chronologically presented overview of the thirty original books (of which at least two dozen on astrology) authored by Tucker that were first published between 1935 and 1971, and an account of the pioneering magazine Science and Astrology that he both edited and published from 1935 to 1936.

Nickie will be looking at chart interpretation from the “inside out”, primarily using an approach pioneered by Swiss psychotherapist, Bruno Huber and wife Louise, in conjunction with Roberto Assagioli’s principles of Psychosynthesis. She will be discussing some of the differences between this and a more traditional approach, though she believes all are valid and that astrologers are guided to whatever works best for them.

Age Progression – Faye Blake

The horoscope can be seen as a clock. This idea was developed further in the 60’s by Bruno Huber a Swiss astrologer who developed the technique of Age Progression and the Age Point which in his view highlights psychological development. Faye will briefly explain the 72-year Huber cycle and provide case studies showing that it has relevance for companies and countries as well as individuals. She has used this technique for over 35 years and has found it one of the most useful tools in the Astro toolkit. Her dissertation for her MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology offered a model for organisational development based on this idea. One of her papers also researched experiences of clients at age 45, a particularly interesting time, using this system.
