From finessing guest lists to seamless integration of Alternative Legal Service Providers.
Find you a woman who can do it all 💁🏻♀️
Fun fact, when I’m not in court or galavanting around the globe (and sometimes when I am) I also offer strategic advisory to businesses going through transformational change. One business I am exceptionally proud to have worked with is Flex Legal who was acquired by Mishcon de Reya in 2024. They always have, and continue to, provide flexible support for paralegals and more senior lawyers looking for short term flexible work in a job market which remains extremely competitive and demanding.
It’s a great honour to talk about them today at Legal Tech Talk, and all the great work they have done for social mobility across the legal profession.

We don’t have an optimisation problem, we have a context problem.
Nothing has perplexed me more than the last week or so of watching the internet’s visceral reaction to one neurodivergent, extremely high-performing man’s entirely precedented experience with alcohol.
The effects of alcohol on performance and ADHD, not to mention overall health, are well documented - which is why many people choose to avoid it.
That doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t go to the pub.
It’s disappointing that after all the work that’s been done on neuroinclusivity and addressing the toxic drinking culture that’s plagued the corporate world for so long, we are literally bullying a man online for bringing both those issues to light.
Leave the 1% to their habits. Extreme levels of success warrant extreme levels of discipline, with little to no margin for error.
No one is stopping you living your life the way that you want to live it.

Define: Ranteria
A centralised location where rants can take place. May or may not be of Italian origin.
Diaria didn’t quite have the same ring to it…
Normalising posting whatever’s in my camera roll with an internal monologue. Fun times ahead 👏🏻

A very warm welcome back to the gulf this week with the opening of Every bit as fabulous as , with a few bespoke touches 😮💨
After a period of sheltering in place for so many in the region, schools being back and restaurants of this calibre launching in AD shows a strong sign of things returning to normality and the UAE getting back on track!
Congrats to .bhattarai and the team for a jam packed launch week 🚀

Law firm vac scheme season is upon us and it reminded me of a funny story about the first one I did.
I had never had a corporate job before I started my training contract.
I had barely stepped foot in an office save for a few weeks of work experience which I had cobbled together during the months that followed my decision to study the law conversion course (and realising that there was a whole lot more to becoming a lawyer than just passing the exams).
So when I got my first vacation scheme placement at a national law firm, I was very much a fish on land.
I had minus levels of self confidence combined with overflowing imposter syndrome.
I can only assume it was that which led me to believe that the most appropriate course of action for the most important task I was given across the two weeks (drafting a Claim Form by hand) was to execute it with an erasable pen [exhibit A, pic 2 attached].
Not only that, but I thought this was a genius move and took great joy in telling the person supervising me that this is what I’d done. Not thinking for a minute that perhaps semi-permanent ink was not the ideal medium for completing arguably the most important court document that exists in any given case.
You can imagine my horror when I discovered after the fact that this ink was prone to fade. Not in the least because I had also completed every single one of my law school exams using it.
Fortunately, there was no harm done here. I passed all my exams well, and was subsequently offered a training contract on the back of said vac scheme.
There was a lesson in there about half-committing though. Something that’s easy to row back from may also row back from you one day with that same ease.
Don’t be me, stick to permanent pen 👍🏼

Status: a little worn but still good 👌🏻
It’s a been a strange few weeks.
There has been a palpable shift in energy across the UAE as people have reacted to and managed the crisis in their own way.
It hasn’t really felt right to post a lot whilst parts of the region are experiencing such intense suffering and there has been a great deal of uncertainly around if or when it may escalate for others. Aside from that, I just really haven’t felt like it.
I was fortunate to be able to take a bit of time to travel to Bangkok, as I can work from pretty much anywhere at the moment. Having just returned though, I can say that there is no place quite like the UAE. People have pulled together, checked in and remained positive and grounded like nothing I have ever seen before. A far cry from some of the hateful narrative that’s, unfortunately, come from some directions during this period.
I’m incredibly proud to call the UAE a second home. Not everyone has to agree with that, or else where would be the spice of life? But it’s possible to disagree respectfully rather than blasting negativity all over the internet when there is already quite enough unrest.
Hoping that we can focus a little more on supporting eachother and a little less on attacking eachother, on multiple scales, moving forwards 🙏🏼
