We are looking for an experienced Work Experience Officer with a proven successful track record of employer engagement.

Experience of working with young people is essential, including those with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and EHCPs (Education Health Care Plans).

The role will include matching young people to suitable work experience opportunities, supporting them whilst on placement, and regular reviews with employers.

Newcastle City Learning has gone cashless. You will no longer be able to pay for courses or ID badges using cash, and will need to use card or mobile payments at our reception desks.

Card and mobile payments are typically faster than handling physical notes and coins, reducing queue times, and leaving a digital trail, which can make it easier for us to track income and reconcile transactions, and for our customers to have a record of their expenditure.

Going cashless is also more efficient for us, and reduces risk.

We will be updating our learner handbook and policies to reflect this.

Please note, this does not impact on the canteen at Westgate College, which is run by Foodworks.

Are you interested in getting a job or volunteering? Do you have learning difficulties or disabilities, and enjoy the outdoors? If so, we might have just the course for you.

Our supportive and hands-on land based skills course gives adult learners the chance to explore gardening, planting, caring for the environment, and working safely outdoors.

Designed specifically for learners with learning difficulties and disabilities, there is a strong focus on confidence, wellbeing, and practical experience. Learning is practical, guided, and adapted to suit different abilities and learning styles.

You’ll take part in structured, enjoyable activities that build independence, teamwork, and routine, while learning skills that can support future opportunities in employment or volunteering.

The experience was wonderful and had such a positive impact, helping both learners feel confident, empowered and ready to succeed.

Choosing the right outfit for an interview can feel like a big step, especially for our interns, but the lovely team at Smart Works made it so much easier. Their support, encouragement and expert advice ensured Holly and Jess left feeling prepared and proud.

Join us for a welcoming coffee morning at Westgate College as we raise money for Dementia UK.
