Dear Parents and Carers,
Well we have made it! It has been a hot one, but with sensible precautions we have been able to stay open all week. The children have been amazing and have listened to our advice on how to keep as cool as we can. We have a very clever school building which is designed to draw fresh air in, so school has been fairly pleasant in most places, its just been the corridors which have struggled. Thank you to everyone who has supported us with this, especially those who brought in ice-creams.
It has been so disappointing to have had to cancel some of our plan this week, but we are going to do our best to rearrange as much as we can.
Next week we are still planning to do our Sports Day on Monday 29th June - the original plans still apply. We're all very excited to see you there.
Year 6 are off to Redhill on Wednesday for a transition visit, if they are moving there in September. Those children will need to go straight to Redhill that morning. If they aren't moving to Redhill in September, they need to come to our school on Wednesday.
On Friday 3rd July we have an Inset day so children should not attend school on that day.
Have a super weekend!

Important Update – Summer Fair Cancellation
Dear Parents and Carers,
Unfortunately, due to the weather forecast, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Summer Fair. While we know this will be disappointing, the welfare and safety of our children, families and staff must come first.
Due to gambling regulations, the raffle and cash pot draw must still take place on Friday. These will be drawn at 3:50pm at the front of school.
We will also still have:
The ice cream van
A bar serving alcoholic drinks for those of legal age, as well as soft drinks for children
Doughnuts
Depending on weather you may also be able to purchase children’s toys.
Please note that raffle and cash pot tickets can only be purchased via MCAS. No tickets will be sold on the afternoon.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds for any unused blue tokens. Instead, we will be arranging opportunities over the next month for children to spend their tokens, hopefully through pop-up stalls.
In addition, we are planning a small-scale fair in September alongside our OPAL Open Afternoon (dates to be confirmed), where any remaining tokens will also be able to be used.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Kind regards,
Jackie Oldfield

Tonight's dance club is cancelled. As this was meant to be the last week, we will run a session next Wednesday instead.

Hot Weather - Please remember hats, water bottles and suncream this week - its going to be a warm one.

Unfortunately, due to the amber weather alert for high temperatures on Monday, we are going to postpone sports day until 29th June. The weather looks much cooler for that date. I’m really disappointed that we have to cancel, but we can’t risk anyone getting heatstroke.

Dear Parents and Carers,
What another lovely week! The children participated in the Arnold Mill Olympics on the field (even the weather was kind), results to follow. Our Foundation children enjoyed a visit from an author who entertained them with some African themed story telling and dance.
It was lovely to see the children in school in non-uniform in support of next week's Summer Fair - a BIG thank you for all of your donations of bottles and wine. If you have any additional donations they can be dropped off at the office or to classes.
Next week is looking like it will be even busier! On Monday we have Sports' Day with parents (more information can be found on ClassDojo or in the diary section of this Newsletter. Don't forget that, due to the seating arrangements, entrance is via Bestwood Avenue only, not Cross Street). Anyone who comes to Cross Street entrance will be asked to go round to Bestwood Avenue.
Then on Friday, after school we have the annual Summer Fair (more information can be found later in the newsletter). We know it gets busy so remember to pre-purchase your blue tokens, raffle tickets and cash pot entries on MCAS in advance to avoid the queues.
We look forward to seeing you all.
Have a super weekend!

A quick reminder that we have a no phones in school policy for children. They should not be bringing phones to school and if they do, they will be sent to the office and an adult will be asked to collect them. When used unsupervised, mobiles can lead to safeguarding concerns, unwanted photo taking and unkind messages. Please don't feel you need buy your child a phone, as it won't be allowed in school. You can see the policy in more detail by clicking this linkhttps://files.schudio.com/arnold-mill-primary-and-nursery-school/files/documents/amps_mobile_phone_policy_2025_new.pdf
