Today we were delighted to host our Rockley Music drumming showcase, where our talented young drummers took to the stage and truly impressed us all. 🥁

The children have been working hard in their lessons, developing not only their technique but also their confidence, musicality and love of music. This showcase was a fantastic opportunity for them to demonstrate their progress - performing with enthusiasm, precision and plenty of personality! 🌟

A huge well done to all of our drummers - you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. Thank you also to Jack from Rockley Music for his continued support and teaching, and to our families for encouraging and celebrating the children’s musical journeys.

We had a wonderful morning welcoming our Reception parents into school - it was fantastic to see our families enjoying time in the classroom and celebrating the children’s learning. ☀️
The children were incredibly proud to share their work and show what they’ve been exploring 🎨📚. It was lovely to see parents joining in and experiencing the day-to-day life of our EYFS setting, especially in our new outdoor area! 🌿
Thank you to everyone who came along. We are so proud of our amazing Reception children and all the fantastic work they have been doing

📱 We asked some of our older pupils what they think about the new UK social media ban for under-16s.

This is the first in our new Speak Out series, where we’ll be hearing children’s views on current affairs and topics that matter to them throughout the year.

Today, we were visited by the Coram SCARF Life Education, who taught children across the school about feelings and safety. Our older children also explored emotional needs, choices that can affect health and wellbeing and the qualities of friendship.
A huge thank you to the Life Education team for joining us today, and (as always!) Harold the Giraffe! 🦒

Another great afternoon at our annual whole-school Tennis Festival! 🎾

Our Year 6s had the chance to showcase their skills as sports leaders, demonstrating and coaching others throughout the afternoon.
This year, we were even joined by a rather enthusiastic thunderstorm, which clearly wanted to get involved in the action too! ⛈️ Thankfully, it didn’t dampen spirits, and everyone showed fantastic resilience and enthusiasm throughout.

A special thank you to Miss Griffin (and our brilliant Year 6s!) for organising such a wonderful afternoon.

In preparation for our Y6 delivered Tennis Day, we look back at the Y3/4 and Y5/6 Melton & Vale tennis competitions held at Melton Mowbray Tennis Club. Both age-groups developing understanding of rules, keeping score, anticipation to move to the ball, serve placement and readiness to play every point regardless of the score. 👏🌟

This week, three of our Year 5 pupils represented our school at a debating event, competing alongside children from other schools across Rise Multi Academy Trust.

They spoke confidently, shared thoughtful ideas, and demonstrated excellent teamwork throughout the evening. We are incredibly proud of how well they represented our school and the enthusiasm they showed for debating.

Well done to all three pupils on a fantastic achievement! 👏🌟

🌿 EYFS Outdoor Area Transformation 🌿

Our EYFS outdoor area has been beautifully transformed, and the children have loved exploring all the exciting new additions! The refreshed space now provides even more opportunities for imaginative play, creativity, and outdoor learning:

🍃 The new Early Excellence mud café has quickly become a favourite, with children busy “cooking,” mixing, and experimenting together.
🌱 Our new garden area is thriving, giving pupils a peaceful space to plant, observe nature, and care for growing things.
🏖️ The new sandpit 'beach' has inspired everything from castles to construction sites, encouraging digging, building, and teamwork, along with its nearby water area.
🎭 The outdoor theatre has already welcomed its first performances, with children confidently storytelling, role-playing, and expressing themselves.
🛠️ New construction materials are also sparking creativity and problem-solving as children design, build, and test their ideas together.

It has been wonderful to see the children embrace the space with such joy, curiosity, and enthusiasm. We look forward to many more outdoor adventures ahead! 🌞

A huge thank you to our wonderful local businesses and school community for their generous support in helping bring this space to life:

💚Viking Challenge for raising funds for our school
💚Wickes for donating bark chippings and wooden posts
💚Bagforce 2 Ltd - Leicestershire Branch for donating compost for our garden
💚Belvoir Sawmill & Forest Products for supplying timber
💚And a special thank you to one of our parents for helping with the construction work

🚴⚔️ The Viking Challenge needs YOU! ⚔️🚴

Plans for next year’s Viking Challenge are well underway, and we need an amazing team of volunteers to help make the day a success.

From course marshals and registration helpers to refreshment stations and setup crews — every helping hand makes a huge difference. 💪

This afternoon, we were joined by the Rosie May Foundation, who are thrilled to be running our Summer Club from Tuesday 28th July - Friday 14th August! The children were so excited to hear about the fun and engaging activities (including uni-hoc, escape rooms, drift bikes and more!), and were even able to enjoy an ice lolly from the legendary Tuk-Tuk! ☀️🩷
