βweβve had a spillaigeβ Is a sentence we hear often in this house! Today made me smile as I watched my little team deal with the spilt water jug at tea time. They moved the plates out of the way, got the cloth and mopped up the water. They were calm, relaxed and confident. Making mistakes and having accidents is all apart of life, how we respond to children in these moments is so important, having a safe space to make mistakes helps shape how they deal with problems in later life.

Materials like clay, playdoh and plasticine are essential in early years education. They promote the foundations of Fine Motor Skills and Hand-Eye Coordination, build vital muscle strength for future writing, and encourage spatial awareness. Other great benefits of these open-ended materials provide a calming sensory experience and act as powerful tools for emotional regulation and creative expression. We try and make sure we have access to them daily. Look at these lovely concoctions being made in the mud kitchen today π« β€οΈβπΎ
