Our Infants art class students created these adorable Liberty Teddy Bears in watercolour a few weeks back 🧸🎨

Focusing on colour blending, texture, and detail, each young artist brought their teddy to life with beautiful watercolour techniques. The personalised paws made every painting extra special and perfect for gifting. 💝

Once their artwork was complete, students proudly framed their paintings and learned how to carefully wrap them, ready to be given as a thoughtful handmade gift to a family member or friend.

A wonderful lesson in creativity, presentation, and the joy of giving. We think these teddies are simply adorable! ✨

Acrylic Ink Ocean Painting 🌊🐠🌅

(Monthly Adults Art Workshop) 🖼️🎨🖌️

What a wonderful evening it was exploring the beauty and fluidity of acrylic inks! Inspired by the ocean, our monthly adult art class created vibrant compositions featuring shoals of fish, boats, and surfboards.

Students focused on key artistic elements including line, form, pattern, shape, and composition, while developing their colour blending and colour mixing skills. We also experimented with exciting ink techniques, using sea salt to create unique textures and beautiful organic effects.

The fluid nature of the inks made for a relaxing and therapeutic creative experience, and it was fantastic to see both familiar faces and new students enjoying the process together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fun evening of learning and creativity. I can’t wait to see what we create next!

Bringing the Seaside to Life ⛵✨

Our May half-term art workshops took inspiration from the beautiful Devon coastline, where we explored charming seaside houses and brought colourful boats to life on canvas.

Together, we experimented with composition, colour blending and mixing, while using line, tone and texture to capture the character and atmosphere of the coast.

A wonderful afternoon of creativity, conversation and artistic exploration. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such an enjoyable workshop! ⛵🏡✨

Blue Biro Still Life ✍️🍎

Blue biro and black still life of fruit study, focusing on developing observational drawing skills and mark-making techniques 🎨.

Our Juniors class worked on directional line to build structure and form, alongside crosshatching to explore tonal variation and depth. Students experimented with applying different levels of pressure to create a range of light and dark tones, helping to add realism and dimension to their work 🖊️

Some really impressive outcomes are emerging as confidence grows across the group 🌟. A number of students were using biro for the first time, and it was great to see them embracing the challenge, experimenting with the medium, and discovering how expressive it can be 💡👏.

Monthly Adult Art Class at RTSY - April Edition 🎨✨

This month we explored oil pastel still life with hints of Fauvist and Impressionistic techniques. We focused on colour blending, expressive mark making, and colour theory — and the outcomes were incredibly impressive! ✨

Whether you’re building confidence, developing your own style, or simply enjoying a creative evening, these classes are all about encouraging your artistic side in a relaxed and welcoming space.

Easter hybrids in the studio 🐰🐿️✨

Our infants class explored acrylic and watercolour mixed media, bringing these characters to life just in time for Easter. From earthy tones to vibrant pops of colour, it’s all about experimenting, blending, and having fun with colour mixing 🎨

We’ve also been focusing on building texture and learning how different techniques can transform a piece. Such a joyful and creative session!

Abstract Shells 🎨🐚

Our junior students have been exploring how to create striking abstract compositions by zooming in and discovering unexpected details. This project focuses on building strong painting skills using gouache, while experimenting with line, tone, pattern, and texture.

As a result they’ve developed their confidence in blending and mixing colours, creating rich and dynamic outcomes along the way.

Spring is in the air 🌸✨

This month in our adult art class, we took inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh’s *Almond Blossom* and explored the beauty and symbolism of cherry blossoms — a celebration of new life, hope, and fresh beginnings.

Our artists dove into painting techniques with curiosity and confidence, experimenting with overlaying paint, working directly onto paper, and discovering the magic of colour mixing and blending. We also embraced the expressive power of impasto, using thick acrylics to create bold, textured mark-making.

The results? Absolutely amazing. Each piece is bursting with movement, colour, and individuality 🌿🎨

So proud of this group for their creativity and willingness to explore — what a joyful way to welcome the season! 💙

3D Clay Birds 🐦✨

Our little artists have been busy bringing their creativity to life 🐥✨

After previously sharing their clay moulds, we’re so excited to now reveal the finished products—and they were absolutely worth the wait!

This project was all about exploring sculpture—focusing on form, shape, pattern, and fine detail. The results? Stunning! From bold, imaginative shapes to vibrant colours created with acrylic POSCA pens and finished with a beautiful glaze, each piece is truly unique. 🎨

To make their creations even more special, students designed and decorated their own baskets to carry their birds, and crafted cozy nests using sticks and raffia. 🌿🧺

Such incredible imagination and effort from our infant group—we am so impressed with every single one of them! 💛👏
