Earlier this month two teams of four Year 5 children were invited to an Enterprise day where they had to develop and make a delicious smoothie. They then had to create logos, slogans, marketing materials and film an advert. We were delighted that one of our teams won the marketing prize.

We had a great day learning about business. Thanks to Shiplake College for hosting us.

Year 4 had an action-packed first day at Ufton Court! The children explored Viking crime and punishment through an interactive courtroom experience, developed their map-reading skills with a photo-mapping challenge, and enjoyed traditional Viking games that tested their strength and strategy. They also trained as Viking warriors, learning how to form a shield wall and protect their Yarls, before setting sail on an exciting Viking raid in search of valuable treasures. A fantastic day of history brought to life!

On Thursday our Y3 and Y5/6 Quad Kids teams participated in the annual South Oxfordshire Final of the outdoor athletics season. With our Year 4s away on a residential trip, the Y3 team knew they faced a tough challenge competing against older children from other schools in their age group. As for our two Y5/6 teams, the ‘A’ team were looking to defend our title whilst the ‘B’ team were hoping to join them in the top two positions in the standings.
Our Y3 team were exceptional. A wonderful display of desire, enthusiasm and relentless effort saw them compete superbly. So superbly in fact that they earned 1,546 points and finished first, meaning that they may well be the youngest ever team of South Oxfordshire champions in the history of both our school and the competition itself!
Another team that performed exceptionally well were our Y5/6 ‘B’ team. After completing each of their events, they finished with a total of 1,810 points – a fabulous score that would have won them the competition in many of the previous years!
The only squad that finished above them were our Y5/6 ‘A’ team, who amassed an incredible total of 2,088 points to come first and successfully defend their South Oxfordshire title!
Overall, a stunning display of athletics and due reward for all of the hard work these children have put in since the Easter break. We now await further details regarding the County Final for both age groups.

Year 2 had a fantastic day at Cotswold Wildlife Park last week! The children loved seeing all of the amazing animals and learning more about their habitats and how they are cared for.

One of the highlights of the trip was riding on the land train around the park, which gave everyone the chance to see even more of the beautiful surroundings.

The children were a real credit to SCPS throughout the day, showing enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent behaviour. Well done, Year 2!

The one change that worked: I felt like an outsider in my village – until I found a simple way to connect I was isolated and nervous when I decided to roll up my sleeves and start volunteering. But I shouldn’t have been intimidated. It’s brought so much happiness and community into my life
