Sidcup Fringe is back!
We’re excited to welcome our local community to campus for on Saturday 4 July.
Taking place at Rose Bruford College, this free community event offers a fun-filled day for all ages, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Expect family activities, arts and crafts, children’s entertainment, and even the chance to meet some fascinating rescue reptiles! 🐍🎨
It’s a great opportunity to explore the campus, enjoy a relaxed summer atmosphere, and take part in a day of creativity, play and community connection.
Opens 10.30am, ends 6pm. Free entry.

Happy Birthday, Rose Bruford 🎂
Today we celebrate what would have been the 122nd birthday of our co-founder, Rose Bruford.
Her vision and legacy continue to shape everything we do at Rose Bruford College, inspiring generations of students, artists and theatre-makers to explore, create and innovate.
We are proud to honour her contribution to theatre and performance training, and to carry her legacy forward today and into the future.
In this photo she is pictured (far right) alongside close friend Poet Laureate John Masefield and English actor and theatre director Sir John Gielgud at an awards ceremony at College.
Today you can visit a plaque dedicated to Rose Bruford’s memory at the The Actors' Church — St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden.

Exciting news! 🎓
We're delighted to announce a new partnership with University of Chichester to launch a PhD programme, creating new opportunities for advanced research in theatre, performance, design, digital technologies and beyond.
This collaboration marks an important step in expanding postgraduate opportunities and supporting the next generation of researchers, artists and creative practitioners.
We look forward to welcoming our first doctoral researchers and seeing the impact of their work across the creative and cultural industries.

🎮 Dreaming of a career in acting?
Our graduates don't just perform on stage and screen. Many go on to build exciting careers in voice acting, bringing characters to life in games, animation, radio and audio drama.
Ian Conningham (BA Acting, 1995) is the voice of The Penguin in the newly released game *LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight*, developed by Travellers Tales and published by Warner Bros. Games 🐧
Ian joins a cast featuring Matt Berry as Bane, alongside archived performances from the late Kevin Conroy and Adam West.

Awards News 🎉
Congratulations to alumni Tom Young, Tom David and Marc Heimendinger, who were part of the team that won the Entertainment One-Off Award in the television category at the Profile Awards for their work on the Milan 2026 Winter Olympics. 🏅
Alumni Charlie Morgan-Jones and Jessica Hung Han Yun were also nominated for the Theatre Critics’ Choice Award. Jessica was a Profile Award winner in 2025. In addition, current Creative Lighting Control student Miles Reynolds was nominated for the Student Virtual Lighting Design Award.
The Profile Awards recognise lighting design excellence in theatre and television in the UK and take place as part of the ABTT Theatre Show, celebrating excellence across the theatre and live events industry.
We’re also proud of graduating student Izzy Cox, who was nominated for the Antonia Collins Early Careers Award at the Stage Management Association Awards, presented annually at the ABTT: Association of British Theatre Technicians Theatre Show.
Finally, Sofia Bryan Compton is a finalist for the Spotlight Screen Prize 2026. Representing Rose Bruford College, she is one of only 20 actors selected from over 60 drama schools across the UK and Ireland for this highly competitive expanded graduate category.

Alumni News 🎬
College alumnus and College President Ray Fearon reprises his role as William Leister in the highly anticipated YA romance sequel Your Fault: London, which premieres worldwide on Amazon Prime on 17 June.
Based on the second novel in Mercedes Ron’s bestselling Culpables trilogy, the film follows Nick and Noah as they navigate a long-distance relationship. While Nick rises through the ranks at Leister Enterprises, Noah begins a new life at Oxford, where new rivals, temptations and betrayals test them both.
Last year, Ray was named Best Supporting Actor at the National Film Awards for his performance in My Fault: London.
It has also been announced that Ray will lead the UK tour of August Wilson’s landmark play , produced by Headlong and directed by Daniel Bailey, touring the UK from September to November.
In addition, Ray features in the forthcoming film Red ’Til I Die, currently in post-production and directed by award-winning filmmaker Radford Nicholls.
We’re delighted to celebrate Ray’s ongoing achievements across screen and stage.

🚨 Call for research participants: ANGEL VR user testing workshop
We’re inviting participants to take part in user testing for ANGEL VR, an immersive VR dance experience that is in development at Rose Bruford College, in collaboration with AVA DANCE COMPANY and supported by UK Research and Innovation.
ANGEL VR is designed to explore more accessible ways of experiencing VR dance, particularly for people with lived experience of disability, including:
• Visual impairments
• D/deaf users
• Wheelchair users
• People with physical disabilities affecting motor skills
We are now looking for participants to join accessibility testing sessions and share their feedback to help shape the next stage of development.
📍 Location: Rose Bruford College
📅 Date: Thursday 25 June
🕒 Two sessions available
Travel and expenses will be covered, and participants will also receive a gift card as a thank you.

Congratulations to our alumni recognised in the 12th Annual National Film Awards nominations 🎬
This year's awards have seen more than one million public submissions, making it the most expansive and audience-driven edition to date.
We're delighted to see:
⭐ Jessica Gunning nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The Magic Faraway Tree
⭐ Stephen Graham nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man and Best Actor in a TV Series for Adolescence
⭐ Adolescence nominated for Best TV Drama Series, on which Hannah Walters served as an executive producer
⭐ Gary Oldman nominated for Best Actor in a TV Series for Slow Horses Season 5
⭐ Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne (as co-writers) nominated for Best Screenplay in a TV Series for Adolescence
Public voting is now open until 27 June. The National Film Awards UK remain the only major British screen awards determined entirely by public vote.

Today we're proud that Rose Bruford College has climbed two places in the Complete University Guide Performing Arts Table 2027.
The College also now ranks third for student satisfaction and places in the top 5 for entry standards across all UK specialist performing arts institutions 🎓
The results follow success at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2026, which last month ranked the College second in London and fifth nationally for Lecturers and Teaching Quality, the only specialist performing arts conservatoire recognised in the category.
The Complete University Guide results show improvement across the board:
• 3rd in the UK for student satisfaction
• Top 5 in the UK for entry standards
• Better outcomes for graduates
• Stronger overall performance
There’s so much to get excited about at Rose Bruford, for our students, staff, and future creative leaders.
