Our Reading Doctor caterpillars have officially moved into their chrysalis home 🐛🦋

Watching this transformation unfold feels like the perfect reminder that growth isn’t always obvious.

The same is true for reading.

Progress doesn’t always happen in big, dramatic moments.

Sometimes it’s quiet.
Sometimes it feels slow.

But small daily steps matter.

Keep going 💛📚

Simple games like rhyming, spotting sounds and chunking words help children build confidence without pressure.
Sometimes the best learning happens when children don’t even realise they’re learning 💛

Audiobooks can be the beginning of a reading journey 💛
Stories still matter.
Language still matters.
Confidence still matters.
For some children, listening first helps remove the pressure and rebuild enjoyment.
And enjoyment is often where progress begins ✨

🐛 Day 1 → Day 7

Our caterpillars are growing quickly and some are now reaching the J stage — the point where they hang upside down before forming their chrysalis.

This stage made me think about the children I work with.

When a child is struggling with reading, progress doesn’t always look dramatic at first.

Often it looks like small things:
📚 a little more confidence
📚 one less hesitation
📚 one more word recognised
📚 a child willing to try again

From the outside, those changes can be easy to miss.

But growth is still happening.

Just like these caterpillars, sometimes the biggest transformations are happening quietly, before the exciting part becomes visible.

Progress takes time.
Growth takes patience.
But small steps really do matter.

I can’t wait to show you what happens next 🦋💛📚

Sometimes reading difficulties don’t look like “can’t read.”
They can look like:
📚 “Reading is boring.”
📚 avoiding homework
📚 guessing words
📚 frustration or low confidence
📚 tiredness around books
Children often hide struggles incredibly well.

If reading feels overwhelming for your child right now, try focusing on confidence before perfection 💛
Small wins matter.
One page matters.
One successful moment matters.
Progress builds slowly — and that’s okay.
