We said a heartfelt farewell to our latest cohort of Year 11 students, the Class of 2026, during their Leavers’ Assembly today.

While it is always a sad occasion to see them leave Year 11, it is also a proud and joyful moment as we celebrate a fantastic group of young people who are now ready to take their next steps, whether that be into Sixth Form here at The Spires College or onto other exciting pathways beyond the college. We feel privileged to have been part of their journey and to have supported them throughout their time with us.

We look forward to welcoming many of them back into Sixth Form in September, and we wish all those moving on to new colleges, apprenticeships, and pathways every success for the future.

✨ Sixth Form Transition Days ✨

Over the past two days, our future Sixth Form students have taken part in a fantastic transition programme designed to support their move into post-16 study 🎓🌟

Yesterday, students visited Haldon Forest for an action-packed team-building experience, including orienteering challenges across the forest. They rose brilliantly to the challenge, working together effectively, problem-solving under pressure, and showing excellent teamwork throughout 💪🌲

Today, students attended their subject transition sessions for the courses they have chosen for Sixth Form. Here, they gained valuable insight into what their lessons will be like next year, met their teachers, and began to get a real sense of the expectations and excitement of post-16 study.

Across both days, students have fully embraced every opportunity, showing enthusiasm, maturity, and a great attitude towards the next stage of their learning journey. We are incredibly proud of them and look forward to welcoming them into Sixth Form in September.

✨ Your Future Story: University of Exeter Visit ✨

Our fantastic Your Future Story cohort recently visited the University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus for an inspiring day designed to broaden horizons and raise aspirations 🎓🌟

Students represented The Spires College exceptionally well throughout the visit, consistently demonstrating the college values in everything they did. They began by exploring what university life is really like, followed by a guided walking tour of the stunning campus, gaining a real insight into studying in higher education.

The day continued with a creative “Design Your Own University” workshop, where students worked brilliantly to think about what makes an ideal university experience. They left with high aspirations and a real sense of excitement about their future pathways 🎓🌟

We are incredibly proud of how our students represented the college and the enthusiasm they showed throughout the day. A brilliant experience all round! 👏

🏏✨ The Spires College Rounders Update ✨🏏

A fantastic couple of fixtures for our Year 7 and Year 8 rounders teams, showing brilliant teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout!

📍 Year 7 – Teignmouth Tournament | Monday 15th June

Year 7 travelled to Teignmouth for their first ever experience of competitive rounders – and they did incredibly well! The team played three matches, narrowly losing to Dawlish and securing a brilliant win against Teignmouth by just half a rounder.

🌟 Special mention to Corbyn, who was the standout player of the tournament with some excellent performances throughout.

📍 Year 7 & Year 8 – Cuthbert Mayne | Wednesday 17th June

Both Year 7 and Year 8 teams took to the field for another set of competitive fixtures. For many Year 8 students, this was their first taste of competitive rounders. Year 7 narrowly lost a close game against Cuthbert Mayne, while Year 8 secured a fantastic win by half a rounder!

🌟 Special mentions to Blake and Sonny, who stepped up to play for the Year 8 team, and to Blake for receiving recognition from the opposition for outstanding sportsmanship.

A brilliant couple of days of sport – well done to all students involved! 👏🎉

🎶☀️ A Fantastic First Summer Concert! ☀️🎶

Last Thursday, we held our very first Summer Concert, and what a success it was!

More than 40 students from across all year groups took to the stage and performed in front of a wonderfully supportive audience, showcasing the incredible musical talent within our school community.

The programme featured a wide variety of performances, including pieces learnt in lessons, coursework from our examination groups, and music developed through extracurricular activities.

It was particularly special to see such a broad range of experience on display. For many students, this was their first time performing in front of an audience, while our more experienced musicians relished the opportunity to share their passion and inspire others.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a memorable occasion.

A huge congratulations to all of our performers for their hard work, courage and outstanding performances. We are incredibly proud of you all! 👏🎵

🎨📖 Creativity Through Journaling! 📖🎨

Our Drawing Workshop Club has been busy working on an exciting new journaling project, giving students the opportunity to develop their creativity and artistic skills in a personal and expressive way.

Each week, students are given a new theme to explore and add to their journals. They can choose how to interpret and represent that theme, using any artistic medium they wish, from drawing and painting to collage and mixed media.

The project encourages creativity, experimentation and self-expression, with every journal becoming a unique reflection of its creator's ideas and artistic style.

We can't wait to see how these journals continue to develop over the coming weeks! ✨👏

🏃‍♀️🏅 Success at the South Devon Schools Area Athletics Championships! 🏅🏃‍♂️

Today, students from The Spires College competed in the South Devon Schools Area Athletics Championships at Exeter Arena, joining athletes from 16 secondary schools across the region.

Our students were fantastic throughout the day, competing with determination, resilience and sportsmanship while representing the College brilliantly.

A special mention goes to Leyon, Amelia, Josh and Ellie, who successfully progressed through highly competitive heats to reach their sprint finals against some of the strongest athletes in South Devon.
