YEAR 9S HAVE A BLAST
We were delighted to welcome Wonderstruck to Chauncy to host an action-packed day of science, engineering and teamwork.
The day blasted off with an exciting science show all about forces, featuring explosions, loud bangs and plenty of surprises along the way! Students then put their engineering skills to the test by designing and building fan-powered cars before competing in a tournament-style race.
But the excitement didn’t stop there. In the afternoon, students built and launched rockets across the back field, bringing a spectacular end to a fantastic day of hands-on learning.
A huge thank you to Wonderstruck, and to all the teachers and technicians who helped make this experience possible for our students.

THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK YEAR ELEVEN!
Year Eleven students sat their last GCSE today and I want to personally thank all of our students for their hard work, determination and commitment to these important assessments, over the last six weeks.
Most of our students have attended revision classes, warm up sessions and our Super Saturday maths morning and were very well prepared going into their GCSE exams. We look forward now to GCSE Results Day on Thursday 20th August 2026, where students can collect their exam results and we can celebrate their successes, from 8.30am in the main school hall.
Year Eleven is not quite finished yet, however. We have our Sixth Form Induction on Wednesday 24th, Thursday 25th and Friday 26th June 2026. Our comprehensive schedule of taster lessons, assemblies, seminars and team building activities has been sent to all students via Edulink. If you have any questions about Sixth Form Induction, please email Pablo Ardiles directly via [email protected].
Finally our Year Eleven Prom is on Thursday 2nd July 2026. Students have been emailed details about the organisation of this wonderful event and should meet on the bottom playground at 6.00pm.
I want to wish all of our Year Eleven students every success, whether they are returning to Chauncy in September, are attending college, taking up apprenticeship or entering the world of work. I also want to thank the parents and carers who have supported their children and the school through the exams season. I know from my own personal experience that this can be a stressful and challenging time for everyone, not just the students.
Our exam invigilation team also deserves special thanks for running multiple examinations in up to 20 rooms, over the last 30 school days. The exam system has become far more complex in recent years and they have done a magnificent job, keeping on top of the students, the thousands of papers, the technology and two formal inspections by the exam boards. We can't quite draw breath yet however, Year Thirteen external exams don't finish until Friday!
Best wishes - Steve Walton (Headteacher)

BATTLEFIELDS 2026 - DAY 4
On our final day of the tour we travelled to the town of Poperinge to visit a very special place - Talbot House. This is where soldiers could come for some rest, have a cup of tea, play the piano and enjoy the garden. These were all things our students got to do during their visit. They also got to visit the chapel at the top of the house. From there we travelled to pay our respect to James’ relative who had been a stretcher bearer. Our final visit was to the impressive Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery. Here we learnt of Nellie Spindler’s story and we held a final reflection on our four days.

PUPPET CLUB PROGRESS
The year 8s and year 7s have been busy getting creative with various glove puppet-making techniques all year.
The puppets shown here by Daisy and Isaac are works in progress using a new technique that has really taken off, and soon we will all have some new, cute and silly friends to take home!
