Nutrition Is Why Most Donāt Get Results
I did my first proper sessions down at the new gym yesterday and like always, at the end, we had a little stretch and a chat
I asked how many needed help with their nutrition and out of 14, they all put their hand up
I asked what they needed help with the mostā¦
They had all different questions but would all agree when someone else said something else
Basically, they hadnāt a clue anymore and Iām never surprised
Thereās so much rubbish on here, out there that the majority of people have no idea anymore
Especially the people over the age of 40 who have spent 20+ years now in and out of slimming world, weight watchers and doing all the diets out there
They All said their main goals was weight loss
I guarantee when I sit down with them 1 on 1 and have a little chat about their proper goals, itās not really weight loss they want
Itās more confidence, energy, looking better in and out of clothes, fat loss (not weight loss) feel better, look better, stronger, healthier, happier, better health role models to their kids, better mental health etc etc
Weight loss is the surface
But whatās underneath and whatās the real reason you want to lose weight?

You Canāt Cheat Your Diet
Caught red handed cheating in golf ā³ļø
Anyway, when it comes to you getting the weight and fat loss results you want
Its not the gym that stops most people getting healthy
The gym is easiest part
45 minutes 2 to 3 times per week is nothing really when you compare that to the rest of the hours and minutes over the week
Itās the habits youāve created over the years which slows you down or stops you
Next week will be my 14 week trying to trim up a little and the journey hasnāt been that hard if Iām honest
Iāve had to put things in place to help me
The biggest one prepping lunches Monday to Saturday, itās change everything for me and itās not hard to do
Then breakfast is easy because itās what I like with eggs on toast
Snacks are easy with fruit and protein based
Evening meals are relaxed and Iāve had over 80 double deckers now
Stop making the journey harder than it has to be
And stop trying to cheat your way through, thereās no short cuts with health unfortunately

We All Do Stupid Things
This was from the very first night of my first lads holiday to Malia and I ended up with a torn knee ligament, glass in my arm and blood everywhere
One of my mates had an accident and I tried to save his head hitting the floor, landed on a bottle and split my elbow open, I took AC Milan vest off, wrapped it around my arm and carried on for the night šŗ
The lady rep of the hotel followed the blood back to my room, woke me up and took me to the hospital š„
I then continued to drink every night for the next 13 without calling home and I didnāt even realise you shouldnāt drink while on antibiotics
But what a holiday it was š
We all do stupid things, but the main thing is learning from them so you donāt keep making them is really important
And unfortunately this is where most people make the mistake when it comes to their weight loss and fat loss results
They do the slimming clubs, the no carbs, no chocolate, juicing, fasting, baby food diet or whatever the next fad diet is
They invest effort, money and time to get the results they want
But these always end up the same way
Not sustainable, not realistic with both for their lifestyle or the time frame they set to get the results they want
Then they just end up back doing the unhealthy habits which made them unhealthy in the first place and spend months, even years gaining more weight, more body fat and becoming more unhealthy
Then when the time comes that they need or want to lose weightā¦
They repeat the same mistakes and hope for different this time around
We all make mistakes, but if you learn from them so you donāt keep making themā¦
It wasnāt a mistake, it was a lesson

Big Day For Us āļø
Today we take a massive step as a couple and our little family
Life isnāt easy
Someone said to me in work the other day that weāre like the perfect couple with how we get on, our energy etc as we both train this lady in work
And we do get on very well and this was the foundation to our relationship
I donāt move fast on certain things but I do believe this helped us to create the foundations we have today
Its definitely not be a smooth ride and sheās nearly punched me a few times with my laid back ways
But I wouldnāt want to do the journey with anyone else
Weāre weeks away from the wedding and I canāt wait but if you find yourself someone who pushes you in the right direction, challenges you when you need challenging but more importantly makes you laugh and enjoy most of your days..
Dont let them go ā¤ļø
Life is much easier when youāre healthy like I always say
Itās always easier when you laugh most days

Stumbled On This Photo Today
This was pretty early in the 2nd gym I owned as this area became another functional area at the back and we had a basket ball net for the kids
And my kids are really young there š
But as a coach, one thing which has never changed for myself is doing this for the right reasons
We all need money, it makes the world go around
But even now, 13 years later in this industry, my main thing is the clients and making sure Iām best possible coach for them
I do believe a lot of people in this industry are in it for the wrong reasons and itās so easy to see when you come across one of here and see there posts and page
I know some amazing coaches in there 20s up to the ones in their 50s and again, you can just see straight away who is in this to help people, proper help them
Something I did as a gym owner when I took staff on and I did this very well if I do say so myself, I could see straight away who would work well and last, and who thought this would just be a quick and easy because they train a bit and enjoy looking after their own health
I do believe this is why we were so successful in doing and keeping the gym going for so long, through covid, 3 gyms and even when people followed me to pure gym to continue
You have to build proper relationships because it doesnāt matter how much money you have the bank or what fancy tools you use
This is why we did see well and attracted so many parents to us to train and get healthy because as a dad, I got it
People see through BS pretty quick and if you dont relate to them and youāre not capable of building trust and relationships quickly, they will let you know with their mouths, or when they walk
Build a solid relationship and make sure they trust you, getting results is easy then because you have time and this is where a good coach / nutritionist and your skill set comes in because it doesnāt matter if youāre a pt, if you donāt know how to relate and use the different methods with different people because theyāre not all the same, you will always struggle
I miss this place and that time we had in there
Never say never, but I do miss it

I Use To Think The Gym Was Boring
At the moment, Iām in a good place and routine with my fitness and routine
Training is going well and my food is consistent for most of the week using the simple T2 method
It makes keeping to the nutrition simple and easy to follow because itās set and its meals I enjoy
I use to get so bored in the gym š“
I would never really feel that amazing feeling after I was done like a lot talked about
I know why know and addressing this and getting a plan around it has massively helped me over the last 12 weeks
But then outside of the gym, Iāve kept myself busy with steps
And making sure Iām going for a kick about with my lad and my brother and his son most weeks
Itās fun, itās memories and itās activity
You donāt have to have this super strict plan to get healthy and to drop body fat
But you have to lift weights for your health
Then find hobbies and activities you enjoy doing
Thereās nothing worse than trying to follow a nutrition and fitness plan you donāt even look forward to doing, never mind actually doing it
