The weather is set to be rather warm at the start of next week! If your child would be more comfortable on these days, then please send them to school in their PE kits and ensure they have a water bottle. Many of our rooms now have air conditioning and we will be ensuring good ventilation and regular hydration breaks! See you all tomorrow! 🌞

We are thrilled to announce that Mrs Spinks and Jo from animate_arts have been highly commended for 2026’s NSEAD (National Society for Education in Art and Design) Awards!

The formally recognise who champion the arts, push boundaries and empower change within the sector. Mrs Spinks and Jo have worked tirelessly together to make more creative opportunities happen for children, teachers and schools across the region over the last 15 years. Their shared passion for arts in education has led to the creation of the popular Art Builders programme and their most recent project Creativity+Maths=? funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation

This week we had another visit from Jo from Animate Arts Company. She showed us our next school project and set us art challenges that we will complete next week. The children from all year groups will be undertaking creative challenges which will be drawn together to create a brand new installation in school. Inspired by the work of the Illustrator of the Hungry Caterpillar book - Eric Carle, the children will be creating pieces using his artistic techniques to create our very own pear tree. Jo will be back soon to pull all of our creations together into what we are certain will be another creative masterpiece! We can't wait to share this with you all!

In their Art lessons this term, Year 1 are learning about sculpture. Last week they learnt that a sculpture is 3D art and thought about different materials which can make a sculpture. We looked at the work of our focus artist, Andy Goldsworthy and went to The Nest to create our own natural sculptures and art. The children thought carefully about patterns and shapes and worked together to create original and stunning pieces all made from nature!

Our incredible Year 2 Performing Arts Club truly shone in their production of The Magic Box at the Playhouse Theatre last night. It is easy to forget how young these children are as they commanded the stage with such confidence! This production was written alongside the children and it is always such a pleasure to perform on a real stage in this gorgeous theatre! We hope this is a memory that lasts a lifetime for them all and they will continue their journey in theatre for many years to come! We are so proud of them all!
Huge thanks as always to The Playhouse, Whitstable for making this incredible experience possible!

The Enchanted Forest 10/06/2026

After it's premier screening yesterday, we wanted to share this gorgeous little film that was created by our Year 2 Technical Team, alongside Tim Leek: a professional film maker and photographer from our arts partners Animate Arts Company. The film was created for our Year 2 Performing Arts Club production of The Magic Box, inspired by the part of the script where the children get transported to an enchanted forest after they discover a Magic Box inside their teachers cupboard!

Yesterday, a few of our children visited St Alphege Church to participate in the blessing of the new wildlife garden. Reverend Rachel led a wonderful blessing, celebrating nature and wildlife and led reflections and thanks for the new space created. The children joined in with songs and the planting of seeds to add to the space. It was wonderful to join together to celebrate this new space within our community.
