Wow, we cannot believe it’s already June 🌸.

If your child starts school in September then preparing for their ‘readiness for school’ is really important.

It’s all about partnership between you, your child’s Early Years setting, our Health Visiting teams and our Family Hubs.

In 2’s this week, we have been following the children’s interest in birthdays.
The children have enjoyed making birthday cakes in the playdough area and bringing their real-life experiences to life by making our own cakes together.
We carefully measured out the ingredients and learned a new word, “scales.” The children enjoyed watching as the ingredients mixed together and were amazed to see that the egg seemed to disappear into the mixture as we stirred.
This hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, communication, and early mathematical skills. The children cannot wait to decorate and eat their cakes 🙂

We’re continuing to expect high temperatures this week, so we’re asking everyone to take extra care if you’re visiting one of our clinics.

If you’re unable to attend your appointment or one with you child, please let us know as soon as possible so we can agree a new date with you.

This week we have done lots of exciting things but- more about that next week!
The highlight of this week has been our visit to Delamere Forest to follow The Room on the Broom Trail. We listened to the story and then hunted for the missing objects to put in our cauldrons. We found buttercups, elderflowers, fir cones, moss, daisies and different leaves. All that hard work left us hungry so we went to eat lunch at the Visitors Centre.
After lunch, we went onto the playground and then did a carousel of activities of parachute games, large-scale natural collage, threading, making wands - iggerty ziggerty, zaggerty, zoom!!
There were lots of snoring and sleepy children (and adults!) on the bus home 😊

Last week at Nursery, we had some special visitors called ‘Key Strings’.
They came to show us a variety of musical instruments and taught us about them.
We learned the names of the different instruments and discovered how they are played. Some of the instruments were very old, which made the visit even more interesting. It was a fun experience, and we enjoyed learning about music 🎻🎵
We explored the different sounds that the instruments could make and learned that some instruments produce low sounds while others produce high sounds. We also listened to fast and slow sounds. 🎵🎶🎼

To finish the session, we had a dance and sang along while the instruments were being played. It was an amazing experience that the children really enjoyed and will remember for a long time 🙂
