Shooters Hill Sixth Form College

On 11th June, the creative writing club launched the first edition of Unbridled Magazine. 100 copies of this publication were distributed, and the contributing writers had the chance to showcase their pieces at the magazine launch. We also welcomed poet Amy Boyle share some of her work and give a presentation on different publishing options for new writers. The event was a huge success and a great celebration of creative writing at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College.

For those who still have exams ahead, we wish you the very best of luck. Remember, we were once in your position too, and if we can do it, so can you!

Head to our Apply Now Room. You can complete your application on the day with help from our team. Once you’ve applied, you’ll be guided straight to your interview.

➡️ If you’ve applied but haven’t had your interview
Go to your Interview Event. Talk about your goals, your interests and the course you want to study.

By the end of the day, you can complete your interview, receive your offer and secure your place for September.

We were proud to host our Skills Forum Employer Partnership Meeting in collaboration with Roots4Life, bringing together employers, community organisations and education partners to discuss how we can better support young people through meaningful opportunities and real-world experiences.

Exploring the Future of Engineering & Innovation with Bosch UK

What an incredible day with the Bosch team on Friday, who brought energy, expertise and an amazing Bentley showcase car to campus. Our guest speakers - Golnaz Norouzi, Aditya Gujjelwar, George Davalle and Luke Rimmer - shared real‑world insights into engineering, motorsport and active safety, and delivered some standout advice for anyone dreaming of a future in the industry.

Here are the big takeaways:

• Network early: Careers events matter - talk to people, ask questions and show genuine interest.
• Get hands‑on: Academic routes are important, but practical experience sets you apart - e.g. find a project car to learn systems inside out.
• Show your passion: Free courses (e.g. marshalling at race events), chatting to mechanics… it all demonstrates curiosity and commitment.
• Focus on building your skills: Communication, teamwork, presentation skills, problem‑solving and finding solutions matter just as much as grades.
• Be curious: Engineers are problem‑solvers. Stay inquisitive.
• Find work experience in engineering and office environments to understand what you enjoy.

And the best part?

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💚
What a successful week! From powerful conversations to practical strategies, our students have taken time to reflect, learn and look after their wellbeing ✨

Throughout the week we’ve explored:
🎓 starting university & mental health
😴 sleep and self-care
📚 managing exam stress
🎨 creative wellbeing
🧘 mindfulness & meditation
💡 life strategies & resilience
🤝 how and where to access support
🧠 su***de awareness and trauma-informed approaches

We’ve shared stories, built connections and created space for some really important conversations.

And to finish the week, we came together in green 💚 to show our support and remind each other that mental health matters every day.

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week begins today 💚 This year’s theme is “Take action: for yourself, for someone else, for all of us.” ✨

Throughout the week, students will be taking part in a range of wellbeing activities, workshops and discussions focused on 🧠 mental health, 💪 resilience and 🤝 accessing support.

We kicked off the week with some important sessions, including:
• helping students to understand depression with Matt
• hearing personal reflections from Deputy Principal, Rob Bates
• learning through interactive immersive room technology
• looking after yourself while at university

Coming up this week are sessions on 🎓 managing mental health when starting university, 😴 sleep hygiene, 📚 exam stress, 💡 life strategies, 🎨 creative wellbeing, 🚫 drugs awareness, 🧘 meditation and 🌱 positive wellbeing strategies.

On Friday, we’ll be coming together to collectively recognise Mental Health Awareness Week by wearing something green. 👕
