Important update for Parents and Carers - School Closures following Storm Goretti

All schools in Guernsey and Alderney will be closed today, Friday 9 January, including The Guernsey Institute and the grant-aided colleges.

We appreciate that this may cause inconvenience to some families, however this decision was taken to reduce risks given many major roads are blocked or covered in debris. This will also support efforts to clear the roads as quickly and effectively as possible without the added pressure of heavy morning traffic. Further, there is damage to school buildings and facilities, which is still being assessed.

Schools are expected to be open as normal on Monday.

Pop to Guille-Allès Public Library, Guernsey between 3-4pm today to hear Mariposa Strings play some Christmas bangers!!

ℹ Removal of tree and damaged wall

We've approved a contractor's request to close Route de Cobo between La Pouquelah and La Rue Traversee from the morning of Monday 24th until the morning of Wednesday 26th November to allow the removal of a tree and a damaged wall.

A diversion will be in place along Route de Saumarez, Rue Cohu, Route de la Charruée, and Route de Carteret. The northern section of Route de Cobo will stay reduced to single lane traffic while Ruette de la Tour also closes on Monday.
