Diane Lebene Mawuenyega had gained a great deal of insight during the CEIBS WELA programme regarding how structure, strategy, and confidence could make businesses successful.

When reflecting on her experience over the past six months, Diane noted that WELA was not just an enabling programme but also one where she received useful training in various fields of entrepreneurship and leadership. Moreover, WELA made her aware of her shortcomings and taught her how to address them.

Whether it is finance, strategy, or business development, Diane considers that this programme would help existing entrepreneurs as well as those wishing to start their own businesses. Also, Diane stressed how strong the community of WELA was and how members of the same encouraged each other to grow.

Thus, her advice is to never hesitate to invest in oneself and learn along the way.

During the CEIBS WELA program, Dora Asante, Head of Priority Banking at Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited, reflected on the transformative power of learning, networking, and leadership development.

Having accumulated vast experience over more than 17 years in the fields of private, priority, and retail banking, Dora has become one of the most prominent professionals in managing teams of top performance, providing advice to affluent clients, and creating a strong foundation for sustainable growth with the help of client-oriented approaches and financial innovations.

Although Dora was participating in the program as a corporate professional rather than as an entrepreneur, WELA gave her invaluable exposure to a network of women entrepreneurs whose experiences, problems, and achievements made a big impression on her. As a result, she will use all her knowledge to help create more suitable products and services for women entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, Dora noted that WELA gave her enough self-confidence to think about becoming an entrepreneur herself.

The CEO of Catering Pal Ventures, Suzie Nyarko Adjei, was interviewed regarding her experience at the CEIBS WELA program, which changed her view of being an entrepreneur.

Being a businesswoman whose entrepreneurial career started in secondary school, Suzie runs Catering Pal Ventures, a firm that deals in catering items and utensils. She explains that despite having all the experience, joining the WELA Program brought so much to her.

Some of the gains made by Suzie included gaining further knowledge on businesses, getting additional business ideas that she will implement shortly, among other benefits.

To be a successful businesswoman, one needs to constantly learn and grow their knowledge. WELA Program helped her achieve that.

It was an absolute pleasure interviewing of the WELA programme, to learn more about the process of growth, reinvention and leadership.

A Certified Human Resource Expert (SHRM-CP, PHR, MILR), she is a Travel & Tours Consultant and currently holds the position of Senior Travel Consultant & HR Business Partner at 3Cords Leisure & Vacation. Prior to this, she had worked in various capacities at Zenith Bank Plc for more than 12 years in areas including Customer Service, Training, Business Development, Relationship Management and Personal Development Planning. However, in 2018, she made the difficult choice to chase after her dreams of travel, tourism and providing experiences to the people of the entire world.

During the discussion, she explained how the programme aided her in increasing her capacity of leadership and strategic thinking skills, and connected her with an incredible network of female leaders in the continent of Africa.

Apart from her business, she also has a keen interest in community development and is actively engaged in volunteering work with Pink Heart Girl’s Academy, which seeks to empower the girl child through quality education.
