Asiedu Samuel, a United Nations Volunteer and a certificate holder from UNICEF on how to provide initial support to survivors of gender-based violence, has emphasized the urgent need to prevent GBV. In collaboration with the Global Young Advocates Club, he stressed that preventing gender-based violence requires a collective, intentional effort rooted in awareness, education, and accountability.
He highlighted that communities, institutions, and individuals all have a critical role to play in challenging harmful social norms, promoting gender equality, and creating safe and accessible reporting mechanisms for survivors. He further noted that early intervention, access to accurate information, and survivor-centered support systems are essential in addressing GBV effectively.
According to him, empowering young people with the right knowledge and advocacy tools can significantly reduce the prevalence of abuse and foster a culture of respect, dignity, and human rights. He reaffirmed that through sustained advocacy, education, and collaboration, meaningful change is achievable.
In partnership with the Global Young Advocates Club, he reiterated their commitment to driving impactful campaigns, supporting survivors, and ensuring that every voice is heard in the fight against gender-based violence.
