The Senior Housemistress of Breman Asikuma Senior High School shares her thoughts on the Academic Centre project and its importance to teaching and learning in the school.

Breman Asikuma Senior High School (BASS), popularly known as Beautiful BASS, was established in October 1964 through a collaborative effort between the Breman Traditional Council led by Nana Amoakwa Buadu VI and the Methodist Church Ghana under the leadership of Very Rev. Felix Mensah Akyea.

The school began at the old Methodist Primary School premises with six teachers and sixty pioneer students, supported largely by community contributions, especially cocoa farmers who financed the school through “kilo-kilo” deductions.

The first Headmaster, Mr. Ernest K. A. Odoom, together with dedicated pioneer staff, laid a strong academic and moral foundation guided by the school’s motto, “Dzin Pa Ye Sen Ahonya” meaning A Good Name Is Better Than Riches.

Over the years, the school has grown into a well-established mixed day and boarding institution in the Central Region, offering programmes in General Science, General Arts, Business, Agricultural Science, and Home Economics, with the Home Economics Department playing a vital role in equipping students with practical skills in catering, clothing and textiles, nutrition, and entrepreneurship.

Today, Breman Asikuma Senior High School continues to nurture disciplined, responsible, and academically sound students who contribute meaningfully to national development.
