On December 1st, 2025, the Institute of Applied Science and Technology warmly welcomed its latest cohort of National Service Personnel with a comprehensive orientation.
The session familiarized our newest members with the Institute's core operations and highlighted their pivotal role in advancing our mission of industry-driven research and innovation.
This marks the start of a dedicated year of engagement and empowerment, ensuring their service is both impactful for the Institute and rewarding for their professional growth.

During the WACCBIP outreach in the Ashanti region to promote science education, research awareness, and innovation among senior high students, Ms. Bernice Sawyerr, a research intern at the Institute, joined the team.
She presented on the impactful work of the Institute and encouraged the students to cultivate creativity and embrace innovation in the sciences.
The outreach included students from 15 schools across four districts: Ejisu-Juabeng, Bekwai Municipality, Amansie West District, and Atwima Kwanwoma District.

Staff from the Institute joined the wider University community at the Great Hall to kick off the University's maiden Employee Week Celebration.
This year’s theme, “One UG, One Workforce: Celebrating Excellence,” perfectly captures the shared commitment to unity and teamwork. The launch was a vibrant occasion to honor the collective achievements, recharge our energy, and strengthen the community that makes UG such a special place to work.

Earlier today, Prof. Samuel K. Kwofie, Director of the Institute, represented the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana at the commissioning of the C-Real factory at Tropical Agrifoods Company Ltd. in Tamale.
C-Real is a nutrient-rich, fortified blended flour, developed through a pioneering collaboration between the University of Development Studies (UDS), the University of York (UoY-UK), Tropical AgriFoods Limited, and the Food Research Institute.
Prof. Kwofie was accompanied by the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Ernest Tweneboah-Koduah, and the Head of the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences, Prof. Angela Parry-Hanson Kunadu. The British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Dr. Christian Rogg, attended as the Special Guest of Honour.

As part of the Institute's ongoing partnership efforts, Director Prof. Samuel Kojo Kwofie met with Mr. Michael Osei Sarfo, CEO of TSGDrive and National Secretary of the Auto Dealers Association.
Their discussion focused on brainstorming collaborative initiatives to empower and transform the entire transport value chain in Ghana.

The Institute met with the new executive team of the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) to advance the University's Strategic Priority 1: Transformative Student Experience.
The discussion focused on concrete collaborations to equip graduate students for success beyond the classroom, with proposed areas including: Student Industry Engagements, Company-Sponsored Capstone Projects, Student Affiliate System and Student Innovation Challenges.
The GRASAG delegation included Mr. Sadick Abubakari, President, Mr. Glen Konadu Gyimadoh, Treasurer, Mr. Eugene Agyare Mensah, Organising Secretary and Ms. Abena Adoma Frimpong, Gender Commissioner.

During the Day 2️⃣ of the GHATFair 2025, the Director of the Institute, Prof. Kwofie advocated for leveraging data and artificial intelligence to drive the transport sector in Ghana.
This advocacy was part of his contribution to the panel discussions on Financing Transport and Development in Ghana: Exploring public-private partnership and innovation models for sustainable transport growth.
Other panelists included Prof. Charles Amoatey, GIMPA; Dr. John Kojo Annan, UMAT; Mr. Michael Osei, CEO of TSG Drive and National Secretary of Auto Dealers Association; and Ing. Sadik Koli A.R, Senior Engineer at MatEngen Holdings Ltd - UK and Ghana Heavy Equipment Limited. ☑️

Earlier today, Prof. Kwofie, Director of the Institute, attended the College of Health Sciences' 25th Anniversary Symposium.
The event, held at WAGMC, was themed "From Genes to Generations: African Genomics, Knowledge Gaps, and Lessons from Breast Cancer."
