How about a look at what we call CORE WORDS or TRICKY WORDS.
Normally words are built by blending phonics however TRICKY or CORE WORDS does not follow the law of blending with phonics.
So these cord words are normally taught by WATCH>> RECITE>> COVER>> COPY >> CHECK ✓✓
kids read better when phonics are used. especialy when start from known to unkwon.
