The Center for Hellenic Studies is pleased to highlight the work of Georgios Mouratidis, Early Career Fellow in Hellenic Studies 2025–2026. During his fellowship, Georgios investigated how athletic inscriptions and statue bases at Olympia shaped public memory, civic identity, and the political culture of the ancient Greek world.

By now, the Keros Project team has powered through more than a month of hard work in one of the most challenging landscapes the Aegean Sea has to offer
We have had it all, and this week we got refreshing sea spray, dreamy dusks and the brightest of full moons
Apotheke is processing and cataloguing swiftly as new exciting finds come in daily; the field is working tirelessly to get down to those floor levels; our tech team is doing literal wonders bringing forward our vision for a paperless excavation; all while we focus on outreach and create opportunities to work with the local community

BSA / UAL: University of the Arts London Arts Research Resident Abbie Vickress has been working at KPS - Kypseli Print Studio whilst in residency at the British School at Athens, developing a series of experiments in screenprinting as well as cyanotypes made on the coast of Aegina.
Check out the video recording of Abbie's lecture "Reimagining the Narrative(s) of Contested Cultural Artefacts" - which is now available on our video archive. We thank Abbie for being such a brilliant member of the BSA community over the past two months and wish her well with her ongoing work!

Welcome to the participants of the BSA Ceramic Petrology Course 2026!
The Fitch Lab is delighted to be hosting 14 participants from all over the world - pictured here during the welcome drinks - for this hands-on training course. The course provides an introduction to ceramic petrology, building upon the Laboratory’s expertise in ceramic petrology applications and its extensive reference collections of geological and ceramic thin sections. It's a special pleasure this year for the Fitch team to collaborate with Yiannis Iliopoulos (Keramos Group, Department of Geology, University of Patras) in teaching the course.

🔬 Opportunity - Fitch short-term fellowships
Applications are invited from PhD students and early-career researchers for short-term research fellowships at the BSA Fitch Laboratory. The fellowships support research stays of up to 6 months during the academic year September 2026-July 2027 and projects should fall within the fields of archaeological science in which the Laboratory is active and able to host research.
