Brickdam Secondary School Cricket Development Visit

“Mr. Assad Fudadin, former West Indies international cricketer and Sports Liaison Officer, engages students of Brickdam Secondary School during the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport’s inter-school cricket competition outreach programme, encouraging excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship among the nation’s young athletes.”

As part of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport’s ongoing commitment to youth development through sport, Mr. Assad Fudadin visited Brickdam Secondary School to engage with students participating in the Ministry’s inter-school cricket competition.

Drawing from his experience as a former West Indies international cricketer and professional athlete, Mr. Fudadin interacted directly with the students, sharing valuable insights on discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, dedication, and the importance of balancing academics with athletic development.

During the visit, he encouraged the young cricketers to pursue excellence both on and off the field and highlighted the opportunities that sport can create for personal growth, education, and national representation. Students were afforded the opportunity to ask questions, discuss their experiences in the competition, and receive guidance from a player who has represented Guyana and the West Indies at the highest levels of the game.

The visit formed part of the Ministry’s broader objective of fostering youth participation in sport, identifying emerging talent, and promoting cricket development throughout Guyana.

Key Objectives of the Visit

* Motivate and inspire student-athletes participating in the cricket competition.
* Promote positive values including discipline, teamwork, respect, and perseverance.
* Encourage greater participation in cricket and organized sports.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to young aspiring cricketers.
* Strengthen collaboration between schools and the Ministry’s sports development programmes.

Mr. Fudadin’s engagement at Brickdam Secondary School reflects his continued commitment to youth empowerment and the advancement of cricket development across Guyana.
