Releasing singles on online streaming providers (e.g. Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube) is a global trend in the pop music industry, as these platforms allow artists to increase their awareness without geographic barriers. 🎼

Even though physical albums/ CDs have reached the decline stage in the product life cycle, the sales volume is still an important reflection of an artist's status. As an extension strategy, record companies have started releasing singles and repackaging physical albums – such as single albums, mini albums and full albums. 💿

However, K-pop artists have sold nearly 26 million albums since the start of this year, and sales are on track to hit a record high in 2021! Why do K-pop albums sell so well?

It’s because the latest K-pop albums often contain photos, postcards and even accessories of the artists fans admire along with the actual music albums, promoting a sense of belonging and loyalty! 📸 📽️

Apart from targeting the domestic market, K-pop artists tend to target the international audience by incorporating English into their songs, or cooperating with other English singers such as Coldplay x BTS. 👯‍♂️
