"We don't have time for leadership training."
Most partners and GCs don't say this out loud but their calendars do.
Yet the matters that really keep legal leaders awake at night are rarely about black-letter law. They're about people:
🔴A high-performing associate on the brink of burnout
🔴A team divided after a difficult promotion decision
🔴A GC trying to influence a board that sees Legal as a cost centre
Modern leadership in law now demands skills that were barely discussed 20 years ago: emotional intelligence, coaching conversations, resilience, and change management.
One of the most striking trends in legal L&D is the shift from technical excellence only to "whole leader development" leaders who can manage risk and inspire people.
For partners, GCs, and heads of legal:
🔹Which leadership skill do you wish you'd developed 10 years earlier?
🔹If your team described your leadership in three words, what would they be?
