Last week on June 11, our Inter-House Swim Gala took place at Victoria Park Swimming Pool—full of exciting races, new challenges, and amazing house spirit! From Years 7–8 “Push the Limit” to Years 9–12 “Chariot Race”, plus banner, best dressed, and house chant competitions, everyone brought great energy to the day.

Congratulations to Fleming House for taking 1st place, with Da Vinci in 2nd and Einstein in 3rd—fantastic results across all houses. Well done to all swimmers for their hard work, IS record-breaking performances, and medal-winning races!

And just like that, the Class of 2026 has officially graduated. It’s a remarkable milestone, an achievement and journey our students should feel truly proud of, as we do as well.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We wish you all the very best as you begin the next chapter of your lives.

On May 13, our Year 8 students were off-timetable for an immersive STEM Day focused on a critical local challenge: safeguarding Hong Kong against super typhoons and severe rainstorms.

Working in their House groups, students took on five hands-on challenges designed to push both their technical and analytical skills to the limit—engineering solutions to help transport water, evaluating how desiccants protect electronics, building AI models for flood mitigation, and completing specialist lab work to investigate water-borne bacteria.

Throughout the day, integrated math challenges kept the competitive spirit strong, and the energy in each House highlighted impressive collaboration, creativity, and teamwork.

This was a House competition, and the winners were announced in this week’s celebration assembly—a huge congratulations to all participants!

On Friday, 24th April, Lajin Kim (12N), Samuel Pitkevich (12N), Naomi Lam (12E), and Charisse Lam (12N) were invited to perform at the new ESF Office Grand Opening Event. The students were thrilled to be able to perform at a landmark occasion for the wider ESF community.

A huge thank you goes to ESFC for this special opportunity!

From April 20th to April 24th, the English Committee and English Department hosted our much-anticipated Book Week across the school! Students and staff enjoyed a second-hand book sale, door decorating competition, Interhouse spelling bee, and book-themed library competitions.

Our highlight was whole school dress-up day on Friday, April 24th, where students dressed as their favourite book characters, and teachers joined the Teacher Dress Parade Competition—with the Science Department winning for their adaptation of Dune.

Thank you to everyone who participated—we can’t wait for Book Week next year!

On April 17th, our Year 12 students were off timetable to complete the practical data collection for their Physics and Biology Internal Assessments. This dedicated time allowed students to focus entirely on the experimental element of their research. The day was highly productive and students worked efficiently to gather their findings. They will now move on to analysing their data and writing up their final results during their scheduled lessons. Well done to Year 12 for their efficient and focused work throughout the day!

On March 25, WANBO successfully hosted the final stage of their Redress initiative. During Wednesday lunchtime donated second‑hand clothes were sold to staff and students, with items ranging from men’s and women’s tops and bottoms to coats and children’s clothing. Priced from HK$10, the sale raised HK$2,869 with over 150 items sold.

Thank you to everyone who donated — we collected 1,555 items over two weeks. House winners: Da Vinci (460), Einstein (380), Fleming (290), Rutherford (153), Wilberforce (153), Nansen (32). Great job, Islanders!
