中風是香港第四大致命疾病，常見的偏癱後遺症往往一下子打亂人生節奏。😷針對這個復康痛點，理大職業治療學校友方乃權教授實行以科技逆轉劇本！💪🏻

Stroke ranks as the 4th leading cause of death in Hong Kong, and its common sequela, hemiparesis, can suddenly throw life off balance. 😷 Taking on this rehabilitation challenge head-on, PolyU Occupational Therapy graduate Prof. Kenneth Fong Nai-kuen is harnessing technology to help rewrite that story! 💪🏻

👉🏻Since as early as 2009, he has led his team in developing “Remind-to-Move (RTM) therapy” using wearable rehabilitation devices that emit timely signals to prompt patients to actively use their hemiparetic limbs during home-based training. 🚶🏻 Their new-generation RTM sensory wristband has been upgraded to a closed-loop system, integrating AI, neuroscience and kinematic technologies to deliver real-time feedback and automatically adjust treatment regimens. This makes rehabilitation more personalised and helps patients return to normal daily life sooner. 🚀

Prof. Fong’s innovations have been patented in the US and the Chinese Mainland ✨, and the previous generation of the open-loop RTM devices has been adopted for over a decade by 16 public hospitals in Hong Kong and the Kessler Rehabilitation Center in the US. 在旁人眼裡，時裝往往離不開「貪靚」；但在理大紡織科技校友葉曉雲教授眼中，一針一線皆可化作治癒身心的良藥。這位在科學醫療與溫暖織品之間搭起橋樑的學者，以同理心結合創新科技，重新詮釋服裝的價值與意義。

葉教授的科研初心，源於身邊一個故事。多年前，她得知朋友的女兒患上青少年原發性脊柱側彎，卻因傳統矯形支架笨重侷促、外觀欠佳而抗拒配戴，最終錯過治療黃金期，不得不接受手術。這觸動了熱愛時尚的她：「醫療產品講求功能，但為何不能兼顧美感？讓患者忘記病人身分，甚至依然覺得自己『好靚、好fashion』？」她相信，真正以人為本的設計，應同時回應身體與心靈的需要。

正因「愛美之心，人皆有之」，葉教授帶領團隊將人工智能與服裝設計融為一體，研發出為脊柱側彎患者度身訂造的「AI功能衣」。這系列矯形背心輕便透氣，內置傳感器實時監察姿勢，透過引導肌肉訓練及強化姿勢控制，協助青少年在舒適自然的狀態下減低脊柱側彎惡化的風險。憑藉這項創新發明，葉教授不僅於「美國矽谷國際發明節」奪獎，更創辦立剛健生物科技（香港）有限公司，成功把科研成果商品化。她分享道：「科研為我帶來極大滿足感。項目不單幫助社會上許多患者，最重要的是讓青少年重拾自信與希望。」

葉教授的「療癒」版圖更延伸至心靈層面。她長期以藝術教育推動社區參與，共同創辦「啊哈博物館」，推出多項計劃，鼓勵大眾藉著創意媒體進行自我探索，並以藝術作為個人成長與社群連結的媒介。今年二月，她於巴黎舉行的全球公益聯盟頒獎典禮上榮獲「公民與慈善」勳章，與另外十位傑出華裔青年企業家及領袖同獲殊榮，充分肯定她在慈善與公共服務領域的卓越貢獻。

回首這段創科之路，葉教授坦言母校理大是孕育她夢想的搖籃：「理大鼓勵我們將研發成果帶出大學，在商業環境中實現理想。從入讀本科到獲頒獎學金完成博士學位，母校一直給予我莫大支持。在這裡，我不但學到紡織技術與科研知識，而且拓展了創新視野。」葉教授以一衣一線，實踐「開物成務 勵學利民」的校訓，也為師弟妹帶來啟發──當科技注入溫度、設計承載關懷，專業便不再只是技能，而是一道回應時代、照亮社會的光。
