This past week, the Student Union had the absolute pleasure of hosting English Week, a series of events designed to celebrate the language.

Kicking things off was the “Parliament of Peculiar Facts,” a trivia session held right in homerooms that turned ordinary class time into a celebration of the wonderfully weird. Students were challenged with a series of lesser-known, jaw-dropping facts.

Midweek brought the “Vocabulary Quest,” a scavenger hunt that turned our school into a living puzzle box. Students raced from location to location, hunting down riddles about the English language.

Finally, the “HKBC Spelling Bee” brought the week to a dramatic close. Preliminary rounds were held during class time, giving every student a chance to step up and prove their mettle. Congratulations are also in order for the three winners: Craig, Josie and Grecco.

English Week reminded us that language isn’t just a subject—it’s a playground. Whether you came for the strange facts, the thrill of the hunt, or the quiet pride of spelling a word you’d only ever seen in books, there was a place for you here.

近日，外交部駐香港特派員公署開放，歡迎香港青年新創見中軸線教室第23期學員、香港紫荊書院學生走進公署，開展別開生面的外交參訪學習活動。
The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in Hong Kong opened to visitors and welcomed members of the 23rd Hong Kong Youth New Vision Axis Classroom and students from Hong Kong Bluebell College for a distinctive diplomatic study tour.

HKBC students stated that the visit broadened their horizons, helped them experience the solemnity and warmth of diplomacy, and strengthened their commitment to serving the motherland and Hong Kong.

We had the pleasure of interviewing our student to learn more about the story behind the artwork.

問1：為什麼選擇「夕陽」作為主題？
Q1: Why did you choose “sunset” as your theme?

「夕陽讓人安靜下來。每次放學回家的路上，看到天邊的晚霞，我都會停下來看一會兒。那一刻，時間好像變慢了。我想把這種平靜的感覺畫下來。」
“Sunset makes people feel calm. Every day on my way home from school, when I see the sunset glow on the horizon, I stop for a while to look at it. At that moment, time seems to slow down.
I wanted to capture that feeling of peace in my painting.”

問2：創作過程中遇到過困難嗎？
Q2 : Did you face any challenges during the creative process?

「有。畫夕陽的顏色很難掌握——太紅會刺眼，太淡又沒有夕陽的感覺。我試了很多種橙色和紫色的搭配，最後用了油畫棒疊加的方式，才找到那種溫暖又不刺眼的感覺。」
“Yes. The colours of a sunset are hard to capture — too red and it’s harsh, too light and it loses the sunset feeling. I tried many combinations of orange and purple, and finally used layering with oil pastels to achieve that warm but gentle effect.”

問3：梵高對你的創作有什麼影響？
Q3: How has van Gogh influenced your work?

「我很喜歡梵高用短筆觸表現光線的方式。我的畫裡也嘗試用類似的筆觸來畫雲和天空，讓它們好像還在流動。梵高說過：『我夢想著繪畫，我畫著我的夢想。』我也想畫出自己心中的那片夕陽。」
“I really like how van Gogh used short brushstrokes to express light. In my painting, I tried similar strokes for the clouds and sky, making them feel like they are still moving. Van Gogh once said, ‘I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream.’ I also want to paint the sunset from my own heart.”

問4：獲獎後有什麼感想？
Q4: How do you feel after winning the award?

「很開心，也很感謝老師的指導。這個獎鼓勵我繼續畫下去。我希望以後能用畫筆記錄更多生活中美好的瞬間。」
“I’m very happy and also grateful for my teacher’s guidance. This award encourages me to keep painting. In the future, I hope to record more beautiful moments in life with my brush.”
