What does this have to do with education? It’s simple. The old adage is that formative data is when the chef tastes 👅 their meals while preparing, and summative data is when the guests eat the meal 🥘. The quote is often directed at teachers, but what about leaders?
Too often, leaders only look to summative data but what they really need is to check our formative or leading data when it comes to their own practices.
