Colouring is an underrated skill. It helps to develop the hand muscles and practice pencil control. Here is a progression over six months.
Student M is a new student of mine and has a silly sense of humour. I use this to help him with phonics revision. Plenty of laughs for something that can usually be quite boring!

Games are a great way to learn as they are fun and engaging. The best part is the student doesn't realise they are still learning. Here, we are using 'Guess Who?' to build sentences by using adjectives and nouns to identify different people.

Before and after.
Many children are not shown the correct technique for holding a pencil. If they continue with the wrong grip, it can cause pain and fatigue in their hand.
Student C is 3 years old and only had a few lessons with me now. She didn't have a great range of English vocabulary when I first met her but she is learning the phonic sounds at a great pace. Just look at her go!
One of the common habits children have is replying with one or two word answers. Here you can see a technique I am teaching student R (6 years old), that we cheat a little and use the question to give a full and complete answer.

Here In Hong Kong, English can get quite confusing as there are many different types of English speakers from different parts of the world.
For instance, British and American English sometimes have different spellings and pronunciations.
Here are a few of them...
I have been teaching student P for two years (just about to turn four). We had to switch to Skype during the pandemic and he managed to adjust very well. He has almost finished learning all the phonic sounds and has started to read. Here you can see our fun dynamic of shared reading!

Here are the results from student S's oral examination with Trinity. She just turned 4 years old and is extremely shy around new people, yet she was able to give her best and achieve a distinction! So proud of her and glad I could help her achieve this amazing result
Laugh & learn!
Student O is 3 yrs old and doesn’t enjoy learning to read. As you can see here, I can make even the most boring activities super fun 🤪
