HEArt, 3rd Wave’s six-month programme (research, workshops, activities and final exhibition at the Catalyst gallery) commencing in November 2025 -Apply Now or Never.
HEArt’s OPEN DAY at the new Catalyst gallery (218 Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan): Sunday 19th October 2025 at 4pm, after TIME TO PRETEND gallery talk starting 2pm. Applicants are encouraged to bring a CV and a short presentation of your work. Alternatively, send CV and covering letter (1500 words) to: [email protected]. Successful applicants will be called for interview early November.

TIME TO PRETEND

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then pretending to be something we’re not could simply be the utmost resentment that smiles – to dream of illusions, rancid yet organic. Time to Pretend is 3RD WAVE’s latest experimental excursion into the deep time of relations between visual arts, science (sometimes fringe and even pseudo) and technology to engage the students to question our serial-produced realities, to challenge the poetics of failure where confrontation with and digression from social norm occurs.

如果盲目的模擬仿效是一頂由頭笠到落腳的高帽，那麼自己假裝是自己就可能是一項用手倒立登上珠穆朗瑪峰來自我鞭屍的偉大壯舉 -本末倒置顛倒夢想紅白即藍死不足惜雖恥猶誠。《扮得及時》係3rd Wave再一次對視覺藝術、邊緣甚至偽科學和街頭掩眼法之間深層關係進行無利可圖的實驗性探索。旨在引導參與者批判質疑這個失控膨脹的現實，挑戰現世一眾行屍走肉遊魂野狗，為離經叛道的詩意另賦新詞。

Duchamp Woz Ere | A Convenient Masterp(i)e(c)e

Art is dead. Long lives art.
An inconvenient exhibition to celebrate the missing link in contemporary art since Duchamp took his perennial master p*e in 1917.

Just before this Christmas 2023, the Catalyst gallery will be plumbed and fitted with functional urinals and repurposed as a public lavatory to honour R. Mutt, an alter-ego of the visionary and prominent artist Marcel Duchamp, and pay tribute to one of his greatest ready-made p(i)e(c)es, Fountain, the non-art ‘thing’ that was once nihilistically placed on a plinth more than a century ago, returning to Caesar what was once Caesar’s.

Visitors will be able to access and use the various hand-crafted urinals in their originally intended state; we encourage female users make uninhibited, free-range use of the facility alongside their male counterparts and furthermore, by committing to the core value of equality of the two sexes, no toilet paper will be provided under any circumstances. We care because you do.

在今年的又一次虛假耶誕普世歡騰的日子來臨前, the catalyst 適逢喜慶日子特意為紀念藝術家Marcel Duchamp 而將七百餘呎有限地方搖身變成一個可圈可點但又無可厚非的公廁,以表揚其幻影假身R. Mutt並向其驚世masterp(i)e(c)e鉅作, Fountain 作影後致敬。

務請各路英雄豪傑放開懷抱無拘無束完全奔放,直接噴射入場內精心人手打造的匠心尿兜：更鼓勵男女無障礙地一齊如廁.....

instalment of a 4-part documentary chronicle the journey of 5 art students joining the first creativity course in Hong Kong, dedicated to those who are aspiring for something other than average lamestream educational system - one that has been responsible for producing conformists and automatons.

A 6-month course with art prizes and an Award Ceremony will take place on 27th, August 2023, 4pm at the Catalyst, everything is at stake and everything will be challenged. Will these 5 cut it? Watch it and find out.
