We'd a fantastic day out with our learners from the stone carving and letter cutting groups with a field trip to Valentia Island on the . Stopping off 1st at the The Skellig Experience Visitors Centre and welcomed by John and the team to see what life was like on the Great Skellig. Back on to the bus and traveled across the island to visit the Valentia Slate Quarry where Dermot showed us how the stone is mined out of the bedrock and processed for cutting and carving. Then sailed back across the ferry and welcomed by Jessica for lunch at The Ring Of Kerry Hotel outside of Caherciveen, a brilliant day out for our learners with so much to take away.

We’re all enjoying some delicious St. Patrick’s Day–themed biscuits today in Abbeyfeale College of FET — a huge thank you to one of our fabulous ELC learners, Alexandra, for creating and sharing these fabulous goodies! 💚🤍🧡
They’ve definitely brought an extra bit of celebration (and sugar!) to our day!

On Friday, 27th February, the ELC Stage 1 learners had the pleasure of welcoming a special guest speaker, Christina Hardy. Christina is a Limerick-based nutritional therapist and the author of “Colourful Foods and Activities for my Body and Mind,” a children’s book that encourages healthy habits, positive attitudes toward nutrition, and an understanding of how food, movement, and mindfulness support overall wellbeing.
During her visit, Christina shared valuable insights from her work supporting families and young people in developing lifelong healthy habits.
We are very grateful to Christina for taking the time to speak with our group and for inspiring our future early years practitioners with practical ideas they can bring into their professional practice.
