HAPPY MONDAY.
Is it happy though?

At the peak in my corporate tech career I dreaded Monday mornings. It used to start on Sunday's that my mind would go back into work mode, thinking about all the emails, appointments and things I would have to firefight.

On bad days, my Monday anxiety destroyed my sleep.

But because the payslips are juicy, I thought I needed to suck it up and get on with it. And I did. For a long time.
Until one day I realised that no money in the world is worth your health and wellbeing!

The good news is: you don't need to quit your job to get out of that toxic spiral.
You can reclaim a healthy work-life balance and refocus on what brings you joy!

If you are dreading Monday mornings and have lost the joy for your job, I can help you build a versatile toolkit that helps you to:

βœ… set & maintain clear boundaries
βœ… find flow and joy in work again
βœ… redesign your day so you have energy left in the evening
βœ… create the work/life that you deserve

Recent research has uncovered belonging as the number one driver for wellbeing at work.
It can be challenging for remote or hybrid teams to create a deep sense of belonging, so here is an evidence-based strategy from Positive Psycholoyg to help you and your team create that belonging.

TEAM RITUALS
Set 2 minutes aside in the beginning of the meeting for members to briefly share in one word (or a very short sentence) what went well. If your team is working toward stressful deadlines or are in the middle of quarter end chaos, a 2 minute breathing exercise or guided mediation could do wonders. As a team, build a little ritual menu to choose from in every team meeting.

Are you on track with your personal and professional goals?

It's tough to keep working towards what really matters to you, when you are juggling high demands at work and life.

Often, our own goals are the first thing that falls off the priority list.

But does it have to be that way?

Good goal setting is an art. When you master the art of good goal setting, you start doing a few things differently:

βœ… You set goals that are deeply meaningful to you

βœ… You feel super motivated to achieve them and start making a proper plan how to make them happen

βœ… You tell everyone about it because you are just so excited about it!

βœ… You notice that working towards these good and meaningful goals has become easy, you enjoy the process, you are in the flow.

Sounds amazing, right?

Everyone can master the art of good goal setting! πŸͺ„

⛡️ How are you captaining your ship?
No matter if you lead a team of people, a community project or a complex family, leaders need a special kind of mindset.

As a leader you often don't have the time to reflect, think or plan for the journey ahead.

How do you know when you need to adjust your sails?
When do you have time to scan the horizon for storms that are coming?
Do you know how your crew is doing? Are they prepared for the journey ahead? Or is there something missing?

The biggest challenge for leaders in today's world is to carve out that important thinking time.

I offer you that space to reflect. That sounding board you need. I am there with you before the storm, during the storm and together, we adjust the sails when needed.

Are you ready to take the first step?

Work can be fun!
In fact, work should be more fun in general!

We spend the majority of our days at work - if you are not having fun, connection or a sense of achievement during that time, it will be very difficult to have a sense of joy in life overall.

You know what also can be fun?
Working with a coach. Yes, that's right.
Of course we will be digging deep and asking the tough questions. And yes, sometimes it can get a bit emotional.
But it also should be a bit of fun.

Personal development doesn't have to be hard, painful or frustrating.
When you work with me as your coach or your workshop facilitator, we will always talk about how you can create more fun and happiness in work and in life.

Because being happy is the greatest form of success.

If you follow me on LinkedIn you will have seen my public display of gratitude. Gratitude is one of the 24 strengths we all possess and I am currently stretching my own gratitude muscles.

Gratitude is also important in the workplace. Grateful employees and teams are happier, more engaged and generally score higher on wellbeing and job satisfaction.

Research has identified 3 dimensions of gratitude in the workplace (Cortini et al, 2019: Gratitude at Work Works):

Relational gratitude: how people express their gratitude for each other, from customers and clients and stakeholders that are part of the work.

Collective gratitude: gratitude experienced towards the organisation, a part of the organisational culture.

Dispositional gratitude: your personal tendency to notice and appreciate the positive in the world.

So what can you do with that information?

Generally, gratitude multiplies when shared. At the end of the work week, take stock of your week, ask yourself what went well, what good did you do?

And equally, take notice of what good others have done for you. Express your gratitude to your colleague who helped you overcome a challenge. Say thank you for the little things that happen in between and let people know you notice.

And most importantly: notice when people give your positive feedback, praise or thanks. Often we overlook these little positive messages. A lot of my clients experiment with starting a gratitude list, where they note down all the positive feedback they receive from colleagues, customers or their boss throughout the day.

Psychological safety is the belief that you won’t be punished or rejected for voicing your ideas, opinions, questions or concerns. In psychologically safe teams, the individual feels free to express themselves and their ideas without the fear of being embarrassed, humiliated or ignored.

Teams high in psychological safety share the belief that mistakes are an opportunity to learn, optimise and grow. Feeling psychologically safe is the foundation to being your authentic self in the workplace.

But what can you do to build psychological safety?
No matter what role you hold, here are 5 evidence based strategies to make everyone feel safe in your team:

πŸ—£ Communicate clearly and effectively
🧐 Bring your curiosity to every meeting
🀝 Treat conflict as a collaborator
πŸšͺView mistakes as portals for discovery
