Gaynor Cup Success
Congratulations to first year students Janine and Angie Nicol, Lily Mai Hickey, Emily and Lucy Donnelly and their NERL Academy team mates who kicked off their Gaynor Cup campaign yesterday with a 2-1 win over Kerry at the University of Limerick.
Janine Nicol scored what turned out to be the winning goal just before half time when she reacted quickest to a rebound to force the ball home.
The win puts NERL Academy in a strong position ahead of today's clash with Sligo-Leitrim, where victory would secure top spot in the group and a place in the Gaynor Cup quarter-finals.
Best of luck to al the Athboy girls and their team mates today

Shannon Watson Memorial Basketball Blitz
On the 19th May, prefects Neila Mc Keogh and Ciara Gavigan ran a basketball tournament in honour of beloved teacher Shannon Watson. The girls had been trained by Shannon and wanted to do something to honour her memory.
They organised the tournament with the help of Ms. Di Lucia. 90 students were involved from 2nd year to 6th year all of whom had a connection to Ms Watson. After two sets of heats, four teams made it through to the semi-finals and then two teams, blue and yellow made it to the final. While both teams put in a great effort, in the end the Yellow team were victorious.
All members of the school community were invited to wear red on the day and a collection was made for the Irish Heart Foundation. A total of €380.75 was raised.
A small ceremony was then held in the school last week where a tree was planted in Ms Watson's honour. It was attended by second years and many of the staff.
