Today Sam one of my woodturning students (10 years old) demonstrated at my stall at the Annacurragh Xmas Fair. He attracted a lot of attention and sold all the mushrooms he made. A lot of children excelled in painting pottery pieces, there was plenty of creativity around. Benjamin, also one of my pottery students sold his beautiful calendars with the help of his granddad Jerry. It was a lovely day, the fair was well organised.

CCM Arts Week
As part of Arts Week, ceramic artist Christien Van Bussel visited CCM. She held a workshop with second year students in preparation for their CBA. She taught students a range of skills to use when working with clay. Everyone who partook made, decorated, and glazed a ceramic mug. There was great enthusiasm from each group. It was an inspiring experience working with a practicing ceramic artist. Thanks to the Art Department for organising this opportunity for the students.

Here are a few pieces that were bisque fired/ glazed and refired.
The coloured clay that I painted inside the moulds before adding the slip worked out really well. They're so colourful!
I love the contrast between the colour layer and the white slip, it looks great.

Success! Lots of lovely pieces fired nicely.
