Today we held our graduation ceremony for 6th Class & their families and presented them with their certificates and commemorative pens 📜🖋️

A lovely ceremony to mark the special occasion finishing with a touching poem by Mr. Hayes. Ms. Bowe bestowed some parting advice on our 6th Class for the future and the rest of the school gave the graduates a guard of honour as they walked one final time out the gates of Scoil na Croise Naofa 👋🏻👋🏻

With the final week of school ahead and some beautiful sunshine forecast, the Student Council would like to remind everyone to stay SunSmart. ☀️ The UV Index is expected to be high, so please ensure children come to school wearing sunscreen, a sun hat, and suitable clothing. We also encourage everyone to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. Let’s enjoy the gorgeous weather safely and make the most of a wonderful last week of the school year!😎

✨ END OF AN ERA: Slán Libh, Mary & Catherine ✨

Today, our entire school community gathered for a very special, emotional assembly to celebrate the retirement of two absolute legends: Mary O’ Flynn (who retired in May) and Catherine Dorney (retiring this August).

Having both worked here since our doors first opened in 1984, they are our only remaining original staff members. For over 40 years, they have kept our school immaculate and safe- even serving as our frontline heroes during the pandemic to keep us open.

Our assembly was a beautiful tribute to their incredible legacy:
🎶 We opened by singing our school song together.
🎤 Principal Ciara Bowe spoke about the pride both Catherine and Mary always took in their work, their dedication to the school, and how no matter what personal challenges life presented them with, they ALWAYS showed up for the school. Not even a global pandemic could keep them away from us!
📝 Safiya and Seán read a beautiful, specially written poem.
🎁 Lovely presentations of cards, specially crafted school crests and gifts were made by our pupils and staff.
💐 Current BoM Chairperson Fr. Michael Keohane and former Chairperson Mrs. Lilian Daly made a special presentation on behalf of the Board of Management.
🎵 We closed with a moving performance of “Count on Me” - the perfect song for two people we could always rely on.

We finished the celebrations with some well-deserved tea and treats in the staffroom! ☕🍰

Mary and Catherine, you didn't just clean a building; you helped build this community from day one. On behalf of everyone who has passed through these halls since 1984 - THOUSANDS of pupils, and staff, past and present - thank you for everything. Míle Buíochas ó chroí! Enjoy your well-deserved retirements! ❤️🎉

With the lovely weather, it's fantastic to see so many students choosing to cycle to school. Cycling is a great way to stay active, support wellbeing, and help protect our environment by reducing traffic and emissions.
