🌍 Culture Day 2026 🌍
Last Thursday, our school proudly celebrated Culture Day, highlighting the rich diversity within our school community.
Pupils from the senior classes created wonderful projects exploring the different cultures represented in our school. Their work showcased traditions, languages, customs, and heritage from around the world, helping us all learn more about one another.
The celebrations continued as pupils wore traditional clothing and shared delicious traditional foods, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.
A huge thank you to all the pupils, families, and staff who helped make the day such a success. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our differences, learn from each other, and appreciate the cultures that make our school community so special.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome members of the corkcityfirebrigade to our school. They spoke to the children about the importance of fire safety and gave them a fascinating insight into the work they do every day.
The firefighters showed the children some of the equipment they use and even gave them the opportunity to sit inside the fire engine. The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly getting to use the fire hose to hit a target cone! There may have been a few splashes along the way, but it was all part of the fun.
We would like to thank corkcityfirebrigade for taking the time to visit our school and for providing such an engaging and educational experience for the children.

We were delighted to welcome JP Quinn to North Mon Primary School recently, where he kindly read “A Bee in UCC” to our Junior and Senior Infant classes in the school library.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the story and learned all about the importance of bees and pollination — such an important message for our young learners 🌼🐝
JP, who works in UCC, spoke about the beautiful campus there, and we were delighted that he was so impressed with our own wonderful school environment — from our building, gardens, trees and flowers, to our vegetable plot and sensory areas. He also had the chance to see our halla, library, nurture room, AstroTurf, kitchen and music room.
We are truly blessed with all the fantastic resources we have here at North Mon Primary, and we are so grateful to JP for taking the time to visit us.

Our 2nd class recently enjoyed an exciting trip to the , where they learned all about the history of the Titanic. 🚢
Located in the original White Star Line ticket office, the children explored the Titanic’s last port of call and followed the journey of real passengers. Each child received a boarding pass and discovered the stories of people who travelled on the ship, learning what life was like on board and what happened during its tragic voyage.
The children were thrilled to travel by train, which added to the adventure, and afterwards they enjoyed a lovely picnic in the nearby park. 🌳☀️
A fantastic day of learning and fun for everyone!
