Are you getting pulled from your to-do list because of your never ending idea list?
You are not alone…but hey it’s our super power. Creative neuro-spicy minds have endless ideas, aspirations and new projects to think about.

Here is what I want you to know - holding space for that idea time is important but it can also be exhausting and it can take you away from the project in hand.

Want to know how Irish creatives stay on track whilst honouring this? - they join The Biscuit Factory.

An online community and business incubator that brings tactics to creative minds so they can make money , feel supported and build a network of like minded people.

What a few weeks.

I keep coming back to the same feeling - how lucky I am to be surrounded by people who love creativity, connection, think critically, and show up with great balls of fire! ( couldn’t resist that one pwa! )

In the new arena I’m stepping into for our sector, I’m learning that this way of life is the asset that matters most…more on that soon.

Shout out to the new shiny humans on my journey like the crew at - the tech queen .murray - the hard working artist advocate & beautiful soul 🧡

Also in the last few weeks some reconnections with these badass legends

It’s always, always - ye guys at the center. The artists, makers, designers, thinkers and dreamers of Ireland and beyond.

Special shout out to all The Biscuit Factory members. Our last meet-up in was so rich and cherished. Thanks for hopping in we had a beautiful evening - as always x
Looking forward to the next one!

Note: I will not stop until we change things for creative people.

First step? Building stuff to give back more time for the studio- follow along here .app
🧡Always for the humans behind the work. The gold.

Wish me luck 😬

To every artist who applied.
Who most likely won’t get it.
Who filled out the form anyway.
Who kept working through the pilot, through the uncertainty, through the underfunding.

Thank you.

Not the Minister. Not the department.
YOU.
You are the ones running sessions in community centres on a Tuesday morning. Sitting with people who are lonely. Making teenagers feel seen for the first time. Bringing music into places that have been silent too long. Creating the culture that makes Ireland worth living in and worth visiting.

You did that on crumbs.
And you still showed up.
The BIA is a start. But 10,000 applications tells us one thing clearly the gap between what artists need and what the state provides is enormous. And we will not close that gap with press releases and photo ops.

We close it with infrastructure. Real, sustained investment in the systems that let creative people build careers not just survive a three-year lottery window.

We close it by telling the truth about what artists actually contribute economically, socially, emotionally to every community in this country.

And we close it by refusing to let the public conversation stay at the level of “isn’t it great we’re doing something” when the evidence says we need to do five times more.

The creative sector doesn’t need a spotlight on the government.
It needs one on the benefits of the work.
Share this if you know an artist who deserves to be seen today.

And from me to you - I will not rest until this changes.

Always in your corner

I didn’t get to photograph everyone in the electric craft village at . The scaffolds were provided but the gold comes from each and every exhibitor - the work, the energy and the incredible community vibes of Irish based creatives was palpable at this years event.

I was so proud of all the biccies and huge shout out to my son who took photos and made sure we got our ice cream 🍦

Well done to the events team for running a tight ship. To the thousands that supported our artists and makers and most importantly of all - the incredible humans behind the work!!

Until next year!

“My first reaction after you messaged me about being in the final of The Irish Made Awards was…. she’s gonna be mortified she has messaged the wrong person! “

Disbelief!

Is that surprising?
To me ? Nope
I feel this every day in our sector.

I want to make sure that YOU - the human behind the work - realise how important you are to the world.
I mean that with every inch of my being.

Creative people are humanities gold.

Thank you so much Donna for the honest conversation and some brilliant nuggets of advice for our sector.

Be BRAVE gang.
Enter things.
Get out and be visible.
You don’t have to have it all figured out - nobody does!!

Please VOTE for the creatives in this award list.

They represent sectors that are working hard : against resource odds, mindset odds but they are still creating / like our arts sector 🧡
