Minister for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity Christopher O'Sullivan TD is urging all water users to take immediate precautions following the confirmation of a crayfish plague outbreak on the River Camac in Dublin.

The Marine Institute has confirmed the presence of a water mould causing a plague affecting white-clawed crayfish, a protected native species. All anglers, boaters, canoeists, and river users are asked to follow the Clean, Check, Dry biosecurity protocol before and after any contact with the water.

If you see dead crayfish in the area, please report it immediately:

đŸŽŖ A memorial fishing competition for the late Henry Keating, who worked at IFI, and passed away in February 2025, is being held at Kilanahard Pier, Lough Sheelin, on Sunday June 28th.

The Keating family have kindly decided to hold this event in memory of Henry and to also raise some much-needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
