Play and speak German – the new Board Games Night at Goethe-Institut Irland.

If you want to upskill and reflect on your teaching practise, as well as (re-)connect with Goethe-Institut Irland, PPLI and other practitioners in the field, then this 3-day interactive German spoken Summer School is for you.

Professional Development (EPV days approved): Teaching German in Primary School
5-day courses
6-10 July or 13-17 July, 5.30pm to 8.30pm

This course will provide teachers with an opportunity to reflect on their own classroom experiences while gaining practical insight into German language teaching theory, methods, and approaches. By the end of the week, participants will feel confident and well-equipped to deliver German classes at 5th and 6th class level, leaving with a corpus of topics and tasks they have developed themselves and can immediately apply in their own schools.

German Upskilling Course for Primary School Teachers
12-week courses
16 September-9 December, weekly 6pm to 7.45pm

These courses are designed to enhance foreign language competence among primary teachers and to enable teachers to effectively teach foreign languages to primary school children in stage 4 (5th and 6th class). This course is facilitated by PPLI/Languages Connect and fully funded by the Department of Education and Youth under the Foreign Language Upskilling Scheme for Primary Teachers’.

Come along to our kids' club and explore German in a fun, creative way, starting 6 June, 12.30-1.30 pm at Goethe-Institut Irland!

In June, we'll start with an interactive story that will be acted out rather than just read aloud. We'll learn a song and play a movement game. Depending on age and ability, there will be various other smaller activities on offer. So, join our club!

We know that it's a tough time, but remember, you know more than you think you do, and we think you're brilliant for rising to the challenge. And afterwards, you can enjoy a well-deserved summer break and the beginning of exciting times after finishing school.

Become a Young Goethe Ambassador!

Young Goethe Ambassadors are student role models who promote the benefits of learning German to young people and encourage younger students to learn and choose German as an option for their Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate and beyond.
