NCCA’s Primary Social and Environmental Education (SEE) team is delighted to host colleagues working in initial and in-career teacher education today in Marino Institute of Education.
We are looking forward to engaging in rich discussions about how best to support pre-service and in-career teachers with SEE curriculum enactment. Also a word of thanks to our Oide and NCSE colleagues who are presenting on their roles in curriculum enactment in the months and years ahead.

🔢Tugann an staidéar CSL, a raibh beagnach 4,000 páiste ar fud 184 bunscoil páirteach ann, léargas ar leith ar eispéiris laethúla na bpáistí ar an scolaíocht.
📊Le Tuarascáil 10 CSL tugtar le chéile torthaí Thuarascáil 1-9 chun na tosca is mó a bhfuil tionchar acu ar fhoghlaim páistí ar scoil a shainaithint. Baintear leas inti as torthaí ó na cúig bliana den staidéar, ag déanamh iniúchadh ar thorthaí foghlama páistí agus ar a múnlaíonn iad.
👧👦Leis an tuarascáil, féachtar ar conas mar atá cúrsaí i scoileanna agus i seomraí ranga, agus ar na bealaí a dtarlaíonn foghlaim agus teagasc iontu gach lá.
Léirítear an méid seo a leanas le torthaí Thuarascáil 10 CSL:

📢Today marks the launch of Report 10 in the Children’s School Lives (CSL) study:
🏫Primary School Matters: Everyday Living and Learning in Children’s School Lives.
🔢The CSL study, involving almost 4,000 children across 184 primary schools, provides a unique insight into children’s everyday experiences of schooling.
📊CSL Report 10 brings together findings from across Reports 1-9 to identify the factors that influence children’s learning most in school. It draws on findings from the five years of the study, examining children’s learning outcomes, and what shapes them.
👧👦The report looks at what schools and classrooms are like, and at the everyday ways learning and teaching happen within them.
CSL Report 10 findings show:
🟣Children from more well-off families report higher wellbeing than those who experience poverty.
🟣Wider societal structures, school composition and local context actively shape classroom learning cultures.
🟣A strong link between wealth/poverty and how well children do with reading and mathematics. For example, children in DEIS schools and those experiencing poverty achieve lower results in Standardised Tests (Mathematics and Reading).

The Primary Arts Education team were delighted to spend the day in the Institute of Education, DCU, discussing all things related to the redeveloped Arts Education specification.
We were joined by colleagues in Higher Education Institutes and engaged in rich discussions on how best to support pre- and in-service teachers in enacting the curriculum. Thank you to those working in Initial Teacher Education, as well as colleagues from Oide and NCSE, for sharing insights into their role in supporting teachers in the months and years ahead.
