My latest blog was inspired by two things.

The conversations we had at the Bike Drop Confidence workshops in Solihull with Apex MCT Motorcycle Training recently, and a coaching conversation with a client this week.

Both highlighted something I see time and time again.

Many riders think motorcycle confidence comes from pushing through fear. - we hear the 'feel the fear and do it anyway' a lot. But is that the right thing to do on a motorcycle when your nerves affect how you hold the bike and the decisions you make?

And what if confidence actually comes from something else?

What if it comes from accurately assessing the risks, managing them effectively and building trust in yourself over time?
After all, that's exactly what advanced riding systems such as IPSGA teach us to do on every ride.

In this blog, I explore why our nervous system often exaggerates risk, why embarrassment can sometimes feel more threatening than injury, and how a simple risk assessment process can help you build motorcycle confidence without simply forcing yourself through fear.

I'd love to know what you think. Will this help how you prepare for riding?
