We were delighted to welcome Padraig Keane and one of our dads, Albert Daniels to our school today. They are members of the local Ballynakill & Surroundings Historical Group. We learned about local life during the Famine and the remains of a 'Clachan' or deserted village can be found nearby. There are at least six children's burial sites in the immediate parish area and one of them is in the field opposite the school and it was known as 'Lisheenglas'. Albert showed us some artefacts from the past and we were amazed to see a sundial that was used at Marbehill House many years ago. Thanks to Albert and Padraig for a very interesting local history lesson! ππποΈ

π Best of Luck to Our Leaving Cert & Junior Cycle Students! π
Wishing all of our students the very best of luck as they begin their exams tomorrow.
You have worked hard, shown dedication, and come so far to reach this point. Remember to believe in yourselves, stay calm, and do your best, that's all anyone can ask.
Take each exam one step at a time, get a good night's sleep, and remember that your results do not define who you are. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you.ππβοΈ

We were thrilled to learn that we have been awarded the Pieta Amber Flag in recognition of the great work in promoting positive mental health all year! 𧑠π We received the following feedback based on our submission:
'Your Amber Flag Committee has shown great commitment in promoting positive mental health by encouraging teamwork and contributions from peers. Our team has thoroughly enjoyed seeing the results of your efforts through the wonderful initiatives you have organised. We hope that by taking part in the Amber Flag initiative, you will continue to raise awareness of stigmas which exist and the stressors on our collective mental and emotional wellbeing.' 𧑠π π
Thanks to the children and Ms Kerrigan for the great work all year! Well done! π πΆ π€©

We were delighted to take part in ESB Science Blast 2026 in Limerick! We investigated the quality of the local Callatra River and compared the findings to the tap water in the school. We showcased our project and got a beautiful ESB Science Blast 2026 award! We had a fab day at UL and enjoyed the shows: STEM World Cup with Mark the Science Guy and The Secret World of Gases by BOC. Well done to the children for all work involved and a special mention to Miss Kate Coyle for coordinating the project! πππ©βπ¬π¨βπ¬β¨βοΈπ¬π§¬π§«ππ€©
