🌏🇹🇭 Our Animal Care and Animal Science students are currently on Erasmus+ work placement with Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary in Thailand.

Students are supporting the charity's vital work by helping to care for resident sanctuary dogs while also learning about outreach programmes that provide veterinary care to local communities. 🐾🐕

The Sanctuary staff also kindly treated students to a cultural trip to visit local temples and sights, giving them the opportunity to experience more of Thailand's rich culture and heritage. 🛕✨

A fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop new skills, and immerse themselves in a different culture through GTI's Erasmus+ International Placement Programme.

Our 2025 Annual Report has been published!

Last year, Léargas supported 454 projects, awarded over €35.8 million in funding and supported more than 15,000 forecasted participants across Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps.

Nearly half of these forecasted participants are people with fewer opportunities, reflecting our continued commitment to inclusion and increasing access to international learning and exchange.

2025 also saw the launch of PEACEPLUS-ASPIRE. In its first year, the programme reached over 482 school and pre-school settings, engaging children and young people from diverse cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds across Northern Ireland and the border counties.

As we mark 40 years of Léargas, we’re reflecting on the people and the partnerships that make this work possible. Thank you to our staff, our board and the many youth workers, educators, volunteers, and organisations we work alongside. We look forward to building on our impact in 2026.

Congratulations to GTI Health Service Skills graduate 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐞́𝐚𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐞 on her progression into employment as a Healthcare Assistant with the Western Alzheimer's Association. 👏

Returning to education at 50 was a challenge Sinéad embraced with determination and positivity. During her time at GTI, she gained valuable healthcare knowledge and clinical skills, graduated with Distinctions, and built lifelong friendships along the way.

As the Erasmus+ RERE (Renewable Energy, Renewable Earth) project comes to a close, GTI (GRETB) was delighted to be part of this successful and collaborative international partnership. 🤝

Over the course of the KA2 Strategic Partnership project, GTI worked with partners from Denmark, Portugal, Turkey, and Spain on renewable energy education and innovative training methods.⚡📚

The final Learning, Teaching and Training (LTT) event took place this week in Matosinhos, Porto (8th–12th June), where students from local schools and vocational centres tested the RERE simulator tool 💻. Teachers and project partners also evaluated its effectiveness as a learning resource for renewable energy training.

The project delivered both online and offline training materials using simulation-based and innovative teaching approaches to support skills development in the green energy sector. 🌍

We thoroughly enjoyed collaborating on this forward-thinking project promoting sustainability and the future of renewable energy education. 🌬️

🎓 The Further Education pathway can open doors to higher education, new opportunities, and rewarding careers.

✨ GTI Media graduate, Martin Mongan is a great example of how a PLC course can help students achieve their goals.

📚 After deciding that his original college course was not the right fit, Martin enrolled on a QQI Level 5 course at GTI. The experience provided him with the skills, confidence, and academic foundation to progress to complete a Journalism and New Media degree at University of Limerick.

🏆 Martin went on to graduate with honours and establish a successful career in journalism.

🌟 His journey highlights the value of further education and the many progression opportunities available through PLC courses. For students who may be unsure of their next step, considering a career change, or looking for an alternative route to higher education, a PLC can provide the support, experience, and qualifications needed to move forward with confidence.
